You're Invited! Calbrisas Park Ribbon Cutting, Saturday Feb. 23

Join us for a ribbon cutting ceremony at Calbrisas Park, Saturday, February 23, from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.! Enjoy the new playground and a new ADA-accessible rubberized play surface. Meet neighbors, elected officials and City staff, and enjoy free hot dogs plus kids' crafts and activities. Calbrisas Park is located at 2451 California Avenue, Signal Hill.

Signal Hill General Municipal Election: Tuesday, March 5
|
|
Save the date for the March 5, 2019 General Municipal Election - we hope you'll get out there and vote! Voters will be choosing two new members of the City Council, one City Clerk and one City Treasurer. Voters will also be choosing from two competing Charter Amendments to change future municipal election dates. Signal Hill's polling location is at the Discovery Well Park Community Center, 2200 Temple Avenue. Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m. Please review the Election Information posted on our website at

, you can conveniently drop off your completed ballot in our secure ballot box on the main floor. City Hall is located at 2175 Cherry Avenue, open Monday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Library Construction Update
|
Despite all the recent rain, construction is still going strong on the future Public Library. Outside, crews have nearly completed the parking lot grading and the storm water retention system. They've also completed the terrace roof on the second floor. Inside, they completed the ceiling grid for the wood panel ceiling, and began installing drywall and insulation. Next month, crews hope to continue installing drywall, start plastering the exterior, and finish installing the electrical and plumbing systems.

Astronomers will visit Hilltop Park to educate guests about the moon and stars, featuring professional equipment for a close-up look at the night sky. Free, all ages.

The Friends of the Signal Hill Library will be selling quality gently used books, DVDs and audiobooks at low prices. The Spring Blowout Book Sale will offer all the books you can fit in one bag for $5 (FOSHL will provide the bag). The sale is Friday, March 1, from 12:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. on the Signal Hill Library Patio, 1780 E. Hill Street.

You can pay a parking citation fee in-person by visiting the Signal Hill Police Department, 2745 Walnut Avenue, or the Finance counter at City Hall, open Monday - Thursday 7:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. and Friday 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Citations can also be paid online through the
Pay My Cite website, or
by check through the self-addressed envelope attached to the citation. You may also request an Administrative Review within 21 days of citation issuance or within 14 days of the mailing of a delinquent penalty notice.
