State Requires New Closures in Los Angeles County Due to Increased COVID-19 Spread
As a result of an increase in COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations, the California Department of Public Health is requiring the following to stop all indoor operations in L.A. County as of July 14:

  • Hair Salons & Barbershops
  • Personal Care: Nail salons, massage therapy, cosmetology/esthetician services, body art, tattoo parlors, skin care, tanning salons
  • Indoor Gyms & Fitness Centers
  • Indoor Operations at Museums, Galleries, Zoos, Aquariums
  • Indoor Malls
  • Places of Worship
  • Indoor Protests
  • Offices of Non-Critical Sectors

Business owners with questions or who need assistance should call the L.A. County Business Disaster Help Line at 833-238-4450, weekdays from 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. and Saturdays 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. To report a business that is not in compliance with Public Health directives, contact the L.A. County Department of Environmental Services at 888-700-9995, Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
New Signs at City Parks
You may notice this new sign at some of our City parks. Please continue to wear your face coverings and/or masks when out in public. Face coverings must cover the nose and mouth. They should be worn when you are in public places and especially when interacting with others who are not in your households. Face coverings protect others from the spread of COVID-19, and are a key component of our collective fight against the novel coronavirus.  Learn more about face coverings.
Nomination Period Now Open for Three City Council Offices
The nomination period for the offices of three (3) members of the City Council opened on Monday, July 13, 2020, at 7:30 a.m. and closes on Friday, August 7, 2020, at 4:30 p.m. The General Municipal Election for these offices will be held on Tuesday, November 3, 2020. You can learn more on our website. Signal Hill Public Library Now Offering Curbside Pickup Service
 The Signal Hill Public Library now offers curbside services for books, DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks. The Curbside Pickup program follows all public health guidelines. The Library’s interior remains closed to the public until further notice.

Curbside hours are Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from 2 p.m. – 5 p.m. Patrons must reserve items for pickup in advance. For information on how to reserve and pick up your items, please visit the Public Library website.
City Hall & Community Services Are Open
By Appointment Only
Signal Hill City Hall and the Community Services Department are now open to the public by appointment only. No walk-ins will be allowed. Please visit our website for details on how to make an appointment with each City Department. We continue to encourage you to do business with us by phone or online.

All members of the public entering City Hall are required to wear face coverings that cover the mouth and nose, and adhere to all physical distancing guidelines. Visitors must be able to attest that they are symptom-free and have not been recently exposed to COVID-19. Please visit our website or call 562-989-7300 for more information.
Reminder: Street Sweeping Parking Enforcement
A friendly reminder that SHPD is now conducting sweeping parking enforcement. Vehicles that are not moved off the street during the times/days posted for street sweeping will be ticketed. Street sweeping is essential to our community’s health, safety and stormwater management. For more information, please visit our website.
Public EV Charging Stations Available in Signal Hill
Signal Hill is a great place to own an electric vehicle (EV). We're proud to offer three public ChargePoint charging stations for EV drivers. One charging station is located at the Signal Hill Public Library, 1800 E. Hill Street. Two stations are located at the upper Civic Center parking lot on Legion Drive at Hill Street. Each charging station can charge two vehicles at the same time. Charging fees are $0.55/kWh, and you can pay from your smartphone. We encourage you to download the ChargePoint app prior to your first charging session. Learn more about getting started with ChargePoint.
Summer Lunch Program Serving Free Meals to Kids Through August 21
We will continue to offer the Summer Food Service Program daily through August 21. This program provides free meals to children from 1 to 18 years old. Meals are served first-come first-serve at Signal Hill Park, 2175 Cherry Avenue, Monday - Friday, 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. This program is in partnership with the City of Long Beach Department of Parks, Recreation & Marine.
