Keep Signal Hill Beautiful! Spring Mayor's Clean-Up is Saturday, May 11
Everyone is welcome at the Spring Mayor's Clean-Up, on Saturday, May 11. Join your neighbors for a morning of service, pitch in and help keep Signal Hill beautiful! We're meeting at Calbrisas Park, 2451 California Avenue. Community Meeting on Cannabis Regulations: Wednesday, May 22
The City is hosting two Community Meetings at City Hall to present information on the current state of cannabis regulation and collect community input on potential regulation of cannabis-related uses in Signal Hill. The first meeting is on Wednesday, May 22 at 6:00 p.m., and the second meeting is on Tuesday, June 18 at 7:00 p.m. as part of the Planning Commission Meeting. Save the Date: May 30 Budget Workshop
Mark your calendars for a Budget Workshop on Thursday, May 30. The workshop starts at 6 p.m. at City Hall, inside Council Chambers. It's your chance to give feedback on the draft budget for Fiscal Year 2019-20.
Public Library Grand Opening Set for Saturday, August 10
We are thrilled to announce the August 10 Grand Opening of the future Signal Hill Public Library! Please stay tuned for more information about this exciting event as it approaches. We'll be sharing more details here, on our website, and on Facebook. Please join us for this historic Grand Opening!
Library Construction Update
The exterior of the new Library building is almost finished, and much of the work is now focused on the interior. In fact, most interior finishes will be substantially complete this month. Flooring and carpet is currently being installed, the interior walls are being painted, and doors and furnishings will be installed soon. Outside, crews are getting ready to start work on the parking lot, landscaping, and exterior lighting. Announcing the 2019 Concerts in the Park Lineup
We're gearing up for 2019's Concerts in the Park series! Every Wednesday evening in July and August, Signal Hill Park comes alive with music and family fun. Every week we'll host a different live band, starting at 6:30 p.m. Check out the event flyer for the full schedule of bands. Come hungry, as different food trucks will be on hand each week. *We'll also have special giveaways celebrating the City's 95th Birthday!* Don't forget to arrive at 6:00 p.m. for the Voice of Signal Hill competition, featuring local middle school and high school students. Spring Bulky Item Pick-Up Week: May 13 - 17
EDCO’s Free Bulky Item Collection Week is May 13 - May 17! Place your bulky items out on the curb on your regularly scheduled collection day or drop them off at the EDCO Transfer Station . Multi-family complexes need to schedule their pickup by calling EDCO at 562-597-0608 no later than the week of May 6. Bulky items include large furniture items, appliances, water heaters, televisions, etc. Unacceptable items include hazardous waste or debris from contractors, landscapers or commercial businesses. National Public Works Week is May 19 - 25
It Starts Here! That's the theme of National Public Works Week, May 19 - 25. Join us in celebrating our Public Works team! We're collecting Thank You notes from residents to pass along to our hardworking employees. Are you thankful for our working traffic lights? Love our well-maintained parks? Happy to be driving on smooth, safe roadways? Send your Thank You notes to [email protected] and we will share them with our Public Works team! Children are also welcome to participate! Check out this video just for kids to help them learn about Public Works functions like water and wastewater, solid waste, traffic and transportation, and construction. 

EDCO Holding Free Shredding Event, Saturday, May 18
Do you have documents with sensitive information lying around your home? Get rid of them safely at EDCO's FREE Shredding Event, Saturday, May 18, at the EDCO Transfer Station, 2755 California Avenue, Signal Hill. The Transfer Station is open from 6:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
EDCO 2018 Sustainability Report
EDCO's 2018 Sustainability Report is now available, offering a glance into EDCO's latest efforts to create sustainable solutions for our environment. The company provides Signal Hill's waste management services for residents, and commercial and industrial businesses.
Question of the Month: How do I rent a park facility/picnic shelter?

Summer is almost here, and the City of Signal Hill's parks are great locations for your outdoor gatherings. To rent a picnic shelter or to have an event with 25 or more people, you must have a permit. Submit an application in person with payment to the Community Services Department at City Hall at least ten business days prior to your event. View the Park & Facility Rentals brochure for a full list of reservable facilities, fee information and more. The person obtaining the permit must be on site during the event.
