Start Planning Now for SB 1383:
Statewide Organics Recycling
Did you know that 40% of all waste going into landfills is food waste? Food waste in landfills is a very large contributor to greenhouse gas emissions and climate change. Signal Hill residents and businesses will soon be able to help solve this problem by adding a green bin to their collection services. Here’s more information about California’s new organic legislation.
Preparing Yard Waste for Street Sweeping
Did you know? After cleaning or sweeping your sidewalk, piling the debris and leaves in the street as pictured during your scheduled street sweeping day is not the best way to prepare it for pickup by the street sweeper. This formation actually makes cleanup more difficult for the street sweeper. We ask that you scatter the leaves to make it easier for the sweeper to clean and collect the debris. Thank you!
