At the City, we want our citizens and visitors to know that we are working to reduce the spread of this disease in our community, continue to provide critical City services, and address impacts of closures of schools, business and events. Governor Expands Eviction Moratorium to June 4th
Gov. Jay Inslee expanded protections and added additional protections for residential and some commercial tenants as COVID-19 continues to impact the finances of Washingtonians statewide. The governor first proclaimed a moratorium on evictions in mid-March. Visit the Governor's website for the details.

City Offers Loan Program for Small Businesses
The City of Spokane’s Community, Housing, and Human Services Board plan to invest $100,000 to help small businesses stay resilient in the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, pending City Council approval on Monday. The funding, which comes from federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) dollars, will provide eligible Spokane businesses with access to affordable Business Resilience Loans through a partnership with non-bank community lender Craft3. Once the program is approved, the application process will open Wednesday, April 22. For more details, visit the the City's website.

Regional Financial Helpline Available
As part of the regional effort to recover from the economic impacts of COVID-19, the City of Spokane is partnering with Spokane Public Library to provide a Financial Helpline for all businesses and individuals countywide trying to access COVID-19 financial recovery programs.

Spokane Public Library staff are operating as “Resource Navigators” to take calls and work one-on-one with callers to connect them with local, regional, state and federal resources for assistance. This resource is available for any business or individual in Spokane County. Businesses and citizens can learn what programs are available to access based on their situation.

Those who need utility assistance can contact SNAP at (509) 456-SNAP to request support.

Earth Day Turns 50!
First officially recognized on April 22, 1970, Earth Day was created as a way to demonstrate support for a healthy environment and is now celebrated around the world in more than 193 countries.

Help the City of Spokane commemorate the 50th anniversary of Earth Day by building your sustainable knowledge with activities that can be practiced every day. From composting to conserving water, join one or all five virtual presentations during the week starting Monday, April 20. Each day, our workshops will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Each session includes an illustrated presentation and opportunities for Q&A.
