Surprise Construction Update!

Get an update on the Freya St. and 13th Ave. water main break. Crews have been working every day, even through extreme heat to make major repairs in this area. This work will continue through this week and we will have a better idea of when the Streets team can begin paving once that work is complete. Thank you for your patience and please follow signed detours for everyone’s safety.

The Spokane River is currently flowing at summer levels and we could reach Level 2 status soon. It’s a great time to remind you about following the watering schedule. Learn more about the City’s Drought Response Measures ordinance! Remember:

  • Avoid watering between 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
  • Limit watering to every other day.
  • Limit watering to no more than a total of two hours per day.
  • Exclude using water to clean sidewalks, driveways, decks, and patios.

Comments on CDBG Program Sought

The City’s Community Housing and Human Services (CHHS) Department is accepting public comments through Monday, July 31, on the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program for 2024, including the draft Citizen Participation Plan, Policies and Procedures and Request for Proposals. Comments can be made via phone, email, or at the public hearing on Wednesday, Aug. 2, 4 p.m. in the City Council Briefing Center in the lower level of City Hall. Contact CHHS for virtual meeting options. CDBG provides annual grants on a formula basis to states, cities, and counties to develop viable urban communities principally for low- and moderate-income persons.

Cooling Center Donations Needed

If community organizations or individuals would like to donate resources to be used during heat waves for individuals in need in Spokane, consider donating bottled water, Gatorade/Powerade, other caffeine-free hydration drinks and sunscreen. Gatorade/Powerade powder that is mixed with water goes farther than pre-mixed hydration drinks. Please email the Emergency Management Department to arrange donations.

The wait is over and City Line is in service! Ride City Line FREE through Labor Day. City Line has 15-minute service for 17 hours a day, six days a week, with 30-minute service on Sunday. The new
