EWU Parks History Volunteer

Calling EWU History majors: Intern with Parks! We have over 80 parks in the City of Spokane, and they all have a story to tell. That's where you come in!

Park History Internship role includes the following:

  • Research a variety of Spokane Parks to identify parks or park areas with historical significance.
  • Visit these parks to inventory interpretive signage or note the lack thereof, including taking photos of existing interpretive signage.
  • Work with Parks, Historic Preservation, and EWU Professors to rank highest priority areas for interpretive signage and make suggestions for a "standard" style of signage to be used going forward.

Parks will:

  • Supply intern with list of parks, including exact location and footprint.
  • Maintain contact with intern throughout the research and inventorying process.
  • Grant intern access to any park area or facility if needed.
  • Work as a liaison between intern and Historic Preservation for research purposes.
