City Closures Planned For Juneteenth

Juneteenth is a federal holiday commemorating the emancipation of enslaved African-Americans. The following City closures are planned in observance of Juneteenth on Monday, June 19:

  • Spokane City Hall will be closed.
  • On street paid parking will not require payments, but remember even when parking is free on holidays, all parking rules, including time limits, still apply.
  • Spokane City Council is not scheduled to meet; their meetings will resume Monday, June 26.
  • Spokane Municipal Court and Community Justice Services will be closed.
  • Spokane Public Library branches will be closed.
  • Development Services Center will be closed.


Other services will proceed on normal schedules. Garbage, recycling, and clean green pickup will proceed as usual. The Waste-to-Energy facility will be open. My Spokane 311 employees will be available for phone or online for customer service inquiries. All Riverfront Park attractions and City golf courses will be open. City Reminds Residents to Have Carts to Curb for Pick-Up By 7 A.M.

As increased temperatures approach during the summer months, City of Spokane residents are reminded to have garbage, recycling, and yard waste cart ready at the curb by 7 a.m. on their designated collection day. Routes may begin earlier than normal when temperatures are forecasted to impact employee health. For more information visit our website.

Parking Meter Cover Pilot Project

You may notice red solar meter covers over paid parking devices if you are going to a show in the three-block Entertainment Parking District. The covers establish temporary tow-away zones similar to placards. Click here to learn more.
