Ban the Bag
Plastic bags do not belong in your green food and yard waste carts. Green carts with plastic bags will be billed as garbage. Paper leaf bags are acceptable in the green cart or left next to the green cart. There is a small fee for disposing of extra paper bags full of leaves, but the leaves do go to be composted. If plastic bags with leaves are left out, there is a larger disposal fee per bag and they go into the trash.

Winter is Coming!
The 2021 - 2022 snow season is fast approaching and City Street crews are ready! Snow Season runs from Nov. 15 through March 15, with most of our winter weather coming during December and January. During snow season, we are asking citizens to park on the “odd” side of the street in residential areas. The goal is to make it easier for plow drivers to do their work.

All Washington Residents Age 12+ Eligible for Vaccine
All Washingtonians age 12 and up are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccination. The Governor and the state Department of Health (DOH) have also prioritized equity issues to ensure vaccine access to populations disproportionately affected by the virus, including communities of color and low-income communities.
The CDC now recommends that certain people are now eligible to receive a COVID-19 booster shot, including those who received Moderna and Johnson & Johnson/Janssen COVID-19 vaccines. Get more information and read CDC’s media statement.

|
Local Vaccination Distribution Information
Three COVID-19 vaccines have been approved, and are widely accessible throughout the state. Information on the vaccine and its distribution in Washington is found on the DOH website. Learn more details on the SRHD website.

CDC Guidance for Fully Vaccinated People
Currently authorized vaccines in the United States are highly effective at protecting vaccinated people against symptomatic and severe COVID-19. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has published updated interim recommendations for people who have been fully vaccinated. Until more is known and vaccination coverage increases, some prevention measures will continue to be necessary for all people, regardless of vaccination status.

Spokane Rewards. Spokane Solves. Spokane Gives.
|
The City of Spokane is a great place to combine community support with expertise. There are over 30 Boards, Commissions and Committees made up of volunteers who help shape our community. If you have one day a year, or one day a week, there is an opportunity for you. Pick your passion and get involved!
Have fun helping others learn to skate! In this volunteer position with Therapeutic Recreation Services, you will assist in teaching people with developmental and/or physical disabilities how to ice skate. This includes helping participants put on skates and being out on ice helping participants improve balance, speed and coordination.
This volunteer opportunity is every Saturday until Dec. 11 (excluding Nov. 20 & 27), from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m. at Eagles Ice Arena.
