Investing In A Safer Spokane

The City of Spokane is proposing a Community Safety Sales Tax to fund new investments for Spokane Fire, Spokane Police, the Office of the Police Ombuds, and Spokane Municipal Court. If approved, the money generated will go directly toward key investments in public safety to ensure our first responders, courts, and case managers have the tools they need to help keep Spokane safe. Utility Rate Information

Current rates for water, sewer, solid waste services expire at the end of this year and need to be updated, based on current costs and needs. City Council is scheduled to vote on the proposed rates in the next few weeks. While protecting the financial health of the utilities, the rates proposal is designed to support vulnerable populations by offering increased discounts for qualified seniors and disabled customers, and for low indoor water users. The proposal also encourages diverting food waste from garbage and water conservation.

West Central Infrastructure Project

The City of Spokane has a unique opportunity to fund right-of-way and traffic calming improvements in the West Central Neighborhood. We want your feedback on the proposed projects! Click here to take the survey.

Water Wise Spokane Tip - Keep Mower Blades Sharp

Water Wise Tip: Keep Mower Blades Sharp

Sharp, clean blades make a big difference! Regularly sharpen your mower blades and clean them with a rag or air compressor after each use. This ensures cleaner cuts and a healthier, water-efficient lawn. For more tips visit WaterWiseSpokane.org.

Scoop the Poop!

Scoop the Poop!

You might be thinking that pet waste is like fertilizer, but it’s not. It’s actually bad for our waterways and can contain bacteria like e-coli. That’s a health hazard! Learn more at SpokaneStormwater.org

UHelp Program Needs Assistance

In 2013, the City of Spokane began a program to support households who qualify with one-time emergency financial assistance to help pay for their City utility bills, which includes charges for water, wastewater, stormwater, and garbage collection. The UHelp program is funded through donations with a dollar-for-dollar match provided by a designated Public Works fund of up to $50,000 each year. To continue to serve the need moving forward, more donations are needed.

You can donate online, by phone, or by mail. Click here to learn more about the UHelp program.

Bicycle Survey Part of Designation Process

The City reapplied for Bicycle Friendly Community status from the League of American Bicyclists. As part of the review process, the League wants your input on bicycling in Spokane. If you’ve ever biked here, please take a minute to complete a survey before Tuesday, Oct. 15.
