Public Comment Sought

We want to hear from you! The City of Spokane is now seeking input on the draft South Logan Transit-Oriented Development (TOD) Plan and the Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS). A 30-day public comment period is open through Thursday, June 8. 


In addition to providing written comments, you are invited to a public workshop on Thursday, May 18, 6 - 7:30 p.m. Learn more about the workshop as well as the draft documents here.

Public Comment Period Open for Proposed Comprehensive Plan Amendments

The City of Spokane has initiated a public comment period through Wednesday, June 7 regarding a proposed suite of text and policy changes to Chapter 3 of its Comprehensive Plan. Chapter 3 concerns land use in the city, providing the long-term vision, values, goals, and policies for development of the City for the next 20 years and more. Review the proposed changes and submit your comments here

2022 Environmental Highlights

The City of Spokane is unique. It owns and operates most of its own utilities and services. The operations of City facilities take care of your daily needs while conserving materials and resources, generating power, and saving citizens money. Many by generating and reusing their own energy. HEART Fundraiser

Humane Evacuation Animal Rescue Team (HEART) is holding their first fundraiser! HEART is an all volunteer, non-profit group formed to fill a need for local and national emergency disaster relief for animals. Their innagural fundraiser is Monday, May 22, 6 - 9 p.m. at Craft & Gather. The $35 ticket price includes a buffet dinner, live music, access to the silent auction with fantastic items, and a 50/50 raffle. Click here to get your tickets.

North Spokane Community Connect Broadband Survey

The BroadLinc Public Development Authority was created by the Spokane County Commissioners to coordinate with local governments, tribes, public and private entities, and nonprofits to develop strategies and plans to construct broadband internet infrastructure. BroadLinc will oversee the acquisition of broadband assets and infrastructure on behalf of member cities and towns of Spokane County.


Understanding the current internet services and quality for Spokane County residents will help BroadLinc apply for federal grants. Please take this short 2-minute survey about your internet services and needs.

SFD Hiring Open House

The Spokane Fire Department will be holding a Hiring Open House on Saturday, May 20, 1 - 4 p.m. at the Spokane Fire Department Training Center, 1608 N. Rebecca St. This event is a great opportunity to explore firefighting as a career and learn about job openings. SFD will have skill stations set up to demonstrate firefighter skills including a ladder climb and hose advance. Hoopfest Court Monitor Volunteers

Spring Dreams: Mend-It Café

The first ever Mend-It Café is coming to Spokane on Saturday, May 20, 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Shadle Park Library.


Here is how the Mend-It Café will work:

  • Bring an article of clothing to be repaired
  • Check in and get paired with a mender
  • Watch as your mender brings new life to your garment.

On the Bright Side

The Spokane Fire Department was awarded the EMS Agency of the Year Award at the 2023 Excellence in EMS Awards presented by the Spokane County EMS Council. SFD Captain Mike Dawson was also honored for his 26 years of service to the community with the Outstanding Lifetime Service Award and Community Risk Reduction Manager Jamie McIntyre was honored for promoting safety in the community. Congratulations to all!
