2022 ONS Annual Report

In 2022, the Office of Neighborhood Services (ONS) distributed 5,636 disposal passes, removed 870 tons of waste through its Neighborhood Clean-Up program, funded nine events with the $24,379 Community Engagement Grant, had 54 mobile speed trailer deployments and launched the Spokane Neighborhood Leadership Academy with Gonzaga University. City to Resume Yard Waste Pickup Feb. 27

The City of Spokane will resume curbside yard and food waste pick up on Monday, Feb. 27. The 90-gallon green yard waste cart can be filled with all types of yard waste, food scraps, and food-soiled paper products. The cost of the service is $18.84 a month, with no charge when the service is suspended for winter. City of Spokane Solid Waste Collection customers can add the service by calling the City at 3-1-1. Traffic Alert!

Starting Monday, Mar. 6 construction will begin on north TJ Meenach Dr. between Northwest Blvd. and the north end of the bridge at north Pettet Dr. and Riverside State Park Dr. Traveling south, motorists can access Whistalks Way from N. Pettet Dr. Traveling north, motorists can access Northwest Blvd. by taking north Pettet Dr. to Maxwell Ave. and north on Maple St. Look for a detour map and more details soon!

Become a Master Composter/Recycler!

We are recruiting residents for the 2023 Master Composter/Recycler class. This six – week course teaches residents how to reduce waste through home composting and recycling. The deadline to apply is Friday, March 3. For more information visit our website.

Public Facilities District Board Vacancy

The Public Facilities District Board is currently accepting applications for one vacancy. The individual selected for this position may serve a staggered term to accommodate the open position. The positions will remain open until filled.


The Public Facilities District Board meetings are scheduled for the Second and Fourth Tuesday of each month, depending on availability, at 12:30 p.m. in the District Administration Offices.


Interested applicants must be City of Spokane residents and serve without compensation. Those interested in being considered must send a letter of interest, resume and a completed application to the Mayor’s Office. Electronic submissions are preferred, but application packets can also be mailed to Office of the Mayor, Spokane City Hall, 808 W. Spokane Falls Blvd, Spokane, WA 99201.

On the Bright Side

Spokane Fire Department's Lieutenant Patrick Moore, a 21-year veteran of SFD, recently responded to a crash on I-90 on his day off. While responding to the crash he realized the driver was having a heart attack and performed life saving CPR. This is not the first time Lt. Moore has saved a life while off duty!
