Development Services Center Temporarily Closed
As a way of maximizing staff time to focus on plan reviews to reduce project timelines this fall, the Development Services Center (DSC) on the Third Floor of Spokane City Hall will be closed to walk-ins on Wednesdays from 8 to 11 a.m. starting Wednesday, Sept. 27, through at least the end of the year. Calls will go to voicemail during those times.
The DSC will also be closed tomorrow, Wednesday, Sept. 20, 11:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. for Division engagement. Click here for more info.

City Seeks Community Feedback on Proposed Housing Code Changes
The City of Spokane is seeking public comments through Wednesday, Oct. 4, on proposed housing changes to the Spokane Municipal Code as part of its Building Opportunity for Housing project aimed at addressing the housing crisis. The next public open house for the development code change proposals is Thursday, Sept. 21, 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. via Microsoft Teams. Click here for all the details.

Property Transfer Public Hearing Scheduled For Sept. 25
The Spokane City Council will hold a public hearing on Monday, Sept. 25, 6 p.m. on a resolution that would approve the transfer of property at 3011 E. Wellesley Ave. in Hillyard from the City to the Northeast Public Development Authority (NEPDA). In November 2017, the building sustained extensive fire damage and was condemned as uninhabitable. The NEPDA has plans for a mixed-use building with 30 affordable housing units and ground floor commercial use. Click here for the details.

City Selected To Participate In Community Connectors Program
The City of Spokane has been selected to participate in the inaugural Community Connectors program of Smart Growth America that will offer technical support and a grant of up to $130,000 to assist in addressing the impacts of Interstate 90 through the East Central neighborhood. Bike Town Hall
Senator Andy Billig and City Council Member Zack Zappone invite the public to a Town Hall Bike Ride on Friday, Oct. 6, 12 - 1 p.m. The ride will start at the University District Gateway Bridge north landing and end at Bennidito’s BrewPub for an optional no-host lunch. The event will be an opportunity to engage with local leaders and staff and discuss transportation issues, including pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure. Those interested should arrive with their bicycle and helmet at the University District Gateway Bridge north landing by noon. Click here for more info.

CHHS Report Accepting Public Comments
The City’s Community, Housing, and Human Services (CHHS) Department is accepting public comments on the Consolidated Annual Performance and Evaluation Report (CAPER) through Wednesday, Oct. 4. The CHHS Board will also hold a public hearing on the CAPER on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 4 p.m. in the Council Briefing Center in the lower level of Spokane City Hall. Written comments may be emailed or provided via phone.

Volunteer Clean-Up Days consisting of graffiti cleanup and litter pickup are scheduled in September and October in Spokane.

Friday, Sept. 22 – A graffiti cover-up and litter pick-up organized by the City’s Office of Neighborhood Services (ONS) will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Audubon-Downriver neighborhood.
