Drivers Be Aware: School Is Back In Session!
The Spokane Police Department and Spokane Public Schools reminds motorists to slow down in school zones and watch for pedestrians crossing streets. Pedestrians can do their part to avoid collisions as well. Cross the street on a “Walk” signal. If there isn’t a signal - look left, right, and left again before crossing at marked crosswalks or intersections.

Paid Parking Rates to Increase
The City of Spokane increased on-street paid parking rates by 50 cents per hour starting today, Tuesday, Sept. 5. This is the first rate increase since 2011. Click here for more information.

Corbin Art Center: Age of Elegance Reimagined
“Age of Elegance Reimagined” will showcase exquisite decorations honoring the history of the home and showcasing the Corbin Art Center in a new way. Participating local businesses include Ritters Garden & Gift, Chic & Shab Upscale Home, the Tin Roof Furniture Showroom & Design Center, Jacobs Custom Living, Trovato Interiors Home Furnishings Boutique, and Bide & Burgeon: A Furniture Company. Furnishings will be available for purchase.
The cost is $10, with all proceeds benefitting the upkeep and restoration of the center. The entrance fee will allow visitors to return anytime during the week-long event. Click here for more information.

Free Business Workshops Scheduled
Main Street America, a national network of neighborhoods and communities that helps revitalize older and historic commercial districts, and Grow with Google will offer free virtual workshops for small businesses on Thursday, Sept. 14, Thursday, Oct. 5 and Tuesday, Nov. 14. The live trainings include how to connect with customers, sell more products online and improve business productivity. The Market Street and Sprague business districts in Spokane received state Main Street awards in the past for projects associated with the City.

City Seeks Community Feedback on Proposed Housing Code Changes
The City of Spokane is seeking public comments through Wednesday, Oct. 4, on proposed housing changes to the Spokane Municipal Code as part of its Building Opportunity for Housing project aimed at addressing the housing crisis. Click here to learn more.

Comp Plan Amendment Applications To Be Accepted
Pre-submittal meetings for citizens, developers and adjacent jurisdictions to apply for amendments to the City’s Comprehensive Plan are being scheduled. To schedule a pre-submittal meeting or to ask amendment process questions, contact us via phone or email. During the pre-submittal meeting, applications will be provided. The application period is from Sept. 1 to Oct. 31. More info on our website.

Clean Buildings Workshops Scheduled
Building owners and operators are invited to rulemaking workshop organized by the Washington State Department of Commerce’s Clean Buildings Team. The state Clean Buildings law is intended to lower costs and pollution from fossil fuel consumption in the state’s existing covered buildings and multi-family buildings. The workshop on Tuesday, Sept. 12 includes a review of proposed rules and comments collected through the rulemaking process. Visit the City's website for more information and to register.
