All Washington Residents Age 12+ Eligible for Vaccine

All Washingtonians age 12 and up are eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccination. The Governor and the state Department of Health (DOH) have also prioritized equity issues to ensure vaccine access to populations disproportionately affected by the virus, including communities of color and low-income communities.

CDC Guidance for Fully Vaccinated People

Currently authorized vaccines in the United States are highly effective at protecting vaccinated people against symptomatic and severe COVID-19. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has published updated interim recommendations for people who have been fully vaccinated. Until more is known and vaccination coverage increases, some prevention measures will continue to be necessary for all people, regardless of vaccination status.

Utility Payment Options

We know that the pandemic has created economic hardship for many of the City’s utility customers. Assistance with monthly City utility bills for water, sewer, and solid waste is available during the COVID-19 pandemic:

Residential property owners as well as tenants can seek direct financial assistance through the City's U-Help program by calling 456-SNAP. Utility Billing can also provide interest-free payment plans for residential customers. More information.

Business owners with an active City of Spokane utility account, may qualify for a small business assistance utility bill deferral. More information.

Late fees and water shutoffs for non-payment have been suspended to assist customers during the pandemic. Donations for this effort are always appreciated.

Manito: Garden Warrior - Ongoing

With revenue losses from COVID shutdowns severely affecting staffing levels at Spokane Parks & Recreation, Manito Park needs your help maintaining our cherished gardens. Volunteer responsibilities may include weeding and pruning plant material and raking and clearing plant material from garden beds and garden pathways. Volunteers are encouraged to volunteer any time that their schedules allow!

Food Bank Assistance - Ongoing

This opportunity will allow volunteers to help package boxes of food and distribute food to community members in need at the MLK Community Center. The MLK Community Center food bank is available for volunteer help Monday through Friday, 1 - 3 p.m.

Civil Service Commission - Ongoing

The Civil Service Commission is currently accepting applications for an upcoming vacancy. Desired background or qualifications include: human resources, employee relations, or legal. The individual selected to fill this position will be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by Spokane City Council to serve a four-year term starting January 1, 2021.

Summer Fun: Spokane River Clean-Up

The Lands Council's Annual Spokane River Clean-Up is Saturday, Sept. 18! You can sign up to clean individually, with your family, or with a group of five or less.

Spokane Public Schools has replaced a 60 year old middle school and created a space for the new Hillyard Public Library.
