  • Manito Park Flower Power Crew: Volunteer responsibilities for this opportunity at Manito Park may include weeding and pruning plant material and raking and clearing plant material from garden beds and garden pathways. – This is an ongoing opportunity.



  • Spring Clean WeekThe City is partnering with Spokane Arts and Downtown Spokane Partnership for Spring Clean Week 2023! We will focus on cleaning up waste and graffiti in the downtown core in the week leading up to Bloomsday. – Saturday, April 29 - Friday, May 5, 8 a.m. 12 p.m. or 1 - 5 p.m.

Construction Zone

Monroe Street striping starts tomorrow!

Northbound and southbound Monroe St. traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction between the Monroe Street Bridge and Boone Ave. This work is to install permanent striping. Work is scheduled to wrap up on Friday, April 28.

Riverside Avenue reopened Friday!

Phase III of Riverside Avenue reconstruction is complete. Riverside Ave. between Stevens St. and Wall St. reopened Friday.

Mayor Hosting Budget Town Hall Series

Mayor Nadine Woodward will host a series of town hall meetings in May to discuss the City’s finances and priorities for the 2024 budget and collect feedback on City services. 


Town hall meetings will be held at the:

  • South Hill Library on May 2
  • Hillyard Library on May 9
  • Shadle Park Library on May 11
  • Virtual Meeting on May 16

28 Mayors Statewide Voice Drug Law Concerns

28 mayors from across the state signed and sent a letter to state legislators last week urging them to establish tougher boundaries for drug possession and preserve local control over drug use laws. Read the letter and watch the video to learn more.

CHHS Action Plan Open For Comments

The draft 2023 Annual Action Plan of the City’s Community, Housing, and Human Services Department is online and open to public comment through Friday, May 5. The City proposes to fund six projects in 2023 that address housing stability and ten that address community-based social services. Comments can be submitted via email or phone. A public hearing will be on Wednesday, May 3, 4 - 6 p.m. in the Council Briefing Center in the lower level of City Hall. Read the draft plan.

CHHS Seeks Feedback On Funding Priorities

The City’s Community, Housing, and Human Services Department is requesting public feedback through Friday, May 5 on priorities for its next award cycle through a short survey. The federal, state and local funds for the annual cycle will result in an annual investment of $7.4 million for homeless services, housing and public service projects. Take the survey!

City Receives $6.7 Million in Monsanto Case

The City of Spokane announced it received a $6.7 million check last week as part of the legal settlement around PCB water contamination. The money will be used for projects that improve the health of the Spokane River. Click here to learn more.

City Recognizes Local Businesses for Excellent Wastewater Management

The City is recognizing three organizations that have excelled in the management of wastewater generated as part of their processes. The following organizations achieved 100 percent compliance with requirements in their industrial wastewater discharge permits for 2022:

  • Goodrich Corporation
  • International Aerospace Coatings
