A MESSAGE FROM
MAYOR PRIBONIC

Dear Stow Residents,

Can you believe we have reached the unofficial end to summer? Well, we reached that ending with a BANG! Thank you to everyone who came out to our wonderful event this weekend – Stow Summer Sunset Blast – to celebrate the end of the season! It was truly great to see you all, and to see our community enjoying themselves and each other! What a GREAT weekend!

It's exciting to see our students head back to school for a fresh start. I want to wish all of our Stow students and their families a very happy, healthy and successful school year. I know our schools are working hard to provide a quality educational experience and get everyone back on track.

This weekend we will be holding our annual ceremony to remember – remembrance of the 20th anniversary of the September 11 terrorist attacks. We will honor those who lost their lives and celebrate the heroes who showed courage by fighting back, who helped others in need and those who answered the call as first responders and military members on that day and the days since. More information may be found at stowohio.org. Please join us.

We are currently undertaking a Master Plan of all parks and recreational facilities. The process will include many avenues for community engagement, with a community survey coming out later this month. I encourage residents to seize the opportunity to weigh in on this plan as we move forward.

I am excited to report that we continue to invest in the infrastructure in our community, making steady progress on our improvements initiatives. Ultimately, our goal is to provide the best services to our residents, and to make sure our community is sustainable.
  • 2021 Road Resurfacing Program underway
  • Darrow Road Sidewalk Construction Project complete
  • Continuation of Park and Facility Improvements Initiative

I pledge to continue my accessibility to our residents and businesses. Your ideas, input and feedback are so very beneficial in understanding the concerns of our community. I have the best interest of Stow at heart and I hope you do as well.

Sincerely,
Mayor John Pribonic

Dear Residents,

The City of Stow is undertaking a master plan process to establish priorities for the future of our parks, trails, recreation facilities, and programs and services within the City. As part of the process, the community will be invited to participate in an online survey that will be conducted by representatives from the project planning firm, PROS Consulting. The survey will be available to the general public in late September. Your voice and opinions are very important to the City as we move forward with the master plan process. Everyone is encouraged to participate in filling it out. This will aid the City of Stow in taking a community-driven approach to making decisions that will enrich the future of our City and positively affect the quality of life we provide for our residents. Please take this opportunity to let your voice be heard!

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me regarding the process.

Stow Receives Connecting Communities Planning Grant
The city of Stow is about to join a growing cast of players that are pursuing connectivity throughout the Greater Akron area. In its last virtual meeting of 2020, the AMATS Policy Committee on Dec. 17 unanimously approved a $40,000 grant for Stow to study livability and connectivity in the city of Stow.

AMATS offers annual grants through its Connecting Communities Program to assist in the development of plans that promote vibrant, livable communities. Stow is one of the latest recipients of these grants. New pedestrian and cycling facilities and trail networks may be on the horizon for Stow.

Stow will use its grant to establish a framework for a city-wide, multi-modal trail network to accommodate all users. This network will not only serve Stow’s various populations, businesses and visitors, but will connect the city to adjacent and regional destinations and multi-modal networks.

The Stow study will explore the potential of shared-use paths and side paths as the primary facilities for the city’s trail network. The study will also determine the viability of placing trails within one-quarter mile of every resident and business.

The City of Stow will hold a BIKE-N-BRAINSTORM event in the near future. Participants will cycle/ride a route through the community, followed by a brainstorming session to improve cycling in Stow. Stay tuned for the date, location, and route.
