The community is rekindling kindness, and leaving a difficult year in the past! Throughout 2021, the City will be highlighting kindness with a theme entitled "Temecula Cares." Temecula Mayor Maryann Edwards states, “Temecula is known for the welcoming and generous attitude demonstrated every day of the year by our residents and businesses. In 2021, we are shining a spotlight on the many ways that simple acts of kindness lift spirits and build a stronger community." Mayor Edwards adds, “Even the smallest gesture, like holding the door for someone or paying a compliment can improve someone's day. Making a conscious decision to be kind can positively affect the life of the giver, the receiver and the community over time. Let it begin with me."

A "Temecula Cares" logo has been developed for use by local businesses and residents who wish to share and promote kindness along with the City of Temecula. Additionally, the City encourages the community to go one step further by posting about simple acts of kindness given, received or witnessed using #TemeculaCares or #LetItBeginWithMe to inspire others to find ways to be kind and caring.  Tag @CityofTemecula and we may share some of your kind and caring posts with the community. TEMECULA REMAINS IN "PURPLE TIER"

Throughout February 2021, Riverside County (which includes the City of Temecula) remained in the strictest Tier (the Purple Tier) set by the State's "Blueprint for a Safer Economy" framework.

HOW CAN RIVERSIDE COUNTY MOVE TO THE "RED TIER"?

The State of California sets the rules and framework for reopening using a Blueprint for a Safer Economy, which displays color-coded tiers that indicate which activities and businesses are open based on County COVID-19 case rates, test positivity, and an equity index. In short, all three of the following metrics must be met over a time period mandated by the State in order to move to the red color tier:

  1. COVID-19 Case rate per 100K (adjusted case rate): Riverside County's most recently reported adjusted case rate is 16.6 and it needs to be 7 or less to move to RED.
  2. COVID-19 Testing Positivity Rate: Riverside County’s most recently reported positivity rate is 7.6% and it needs to be 8.0% or less to move to RED, so we have met this mark!
  3. Equity Index: Riverside County’s most recently reported Equity Index is 8.3% and it needs to be 8% or less to move to RED. (We are very close to meeting this mark.)

Outdoor and Indoor Recreational Sports. For detailed information on which sports may resume, visit: https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/COVID-19/outdoor-indoor-recreational-sports.aspx

Certain sports are permitted in the Purple Tier. The State of California issued guidance allowing additional sports to begin in counties with an adjusted case rate of 14 cases or fewer per 100,000 residents. Riverside County’s most recently reported adjusted case rate is 16.6. The case rate is updated every Tuesday and posted online at www.rivcoph.org/coronavirus
