JUNE 2021
Monthly Memo from the City Manager
We are proud to be a part of the most wonderful country in the world and wish you all a very Happy 4th of July!

The City of Temecula's 4th of July Fireworks will be launched from above the Ronald Reagan Sports Park at 9pm on Sunday, July 4th. Tune your radio to 101.3 KATY for a musical simulcast.

For those on the south end of town, Pechanga Resort Casino plans to put on a show on Sunday, July 4th at dusk (approximately 8:45 p.m.).

Temecula is fortunate to have two locations where July 4th fireworks will be professionally launched and can be seen at different points throughout the City. We thank the Pechanga Tribe and share the celebration that is so eloquently stated by the Tribe to be in the spirit of freedom and independence fought for by millions of servicemen and women, including hundreds of thousands of Native American enlistees.

Happy 4th of July!

-Aaron Adams, City Manager
NEW I-15 AUXILIARY LANES BETWEEN ON AND OFF RAMPS THROUGH TEMECULA
Interstate 15 is Federal Highway and not City of Temecula jurisdiction. Also, 66% to 71% of those traveling on Interstate 15 through Temecula are not from Temecula nor going to Temecula (they are not attributable to Temecula at all); however, Temecula residents are greatly impacted by the traffic. The City of Temecula worked with regional partners and Caltrans and, as a result, new auxiliary lanes will be constructed between all on and off ramps in Temecula. The first lane is expected to be out to bid in FY21-22.
FRENCH VALLEY PARKWAY EXPANSION PHASE 2
This project will construct two northbound Interstate 15 lanes, approximately 2.5 miles long, referred to as collector distributor lanes, along I-15 from Winchester Road to the I-15/215 Junction, plus a flyover bridge.
This will help correct the choke-point on Northbound Interstate 15 where weaving occurs as drivers choose between I-15 and 215 at the same time as vehicles are merging from Winchester Road onto Northbound I-15. This weaving and merging causes daily congestion that backs up northbound traffic from the I-15/215 Junction in Riverside County into San Diego County, at times up to 10-20+ miles long.
