OCTOBER 2021
Monthly Memo from the City Manager
Harvest season is upon us here in Southern California Wine Country as grapes are plucked from the vineyards, destemmed and crushed to extract the grape juice that will later become wine. It's a special time of year and autumn is beautiful in the Temecula Valley! The leaves are changing colors and families are getting out to enjoy the many events and activities around town. City Hall is once again busy preparing for our annual end-of-the-year holiday events so residents can enjoy timeless traditions and create new memories. As we reflect on Temecula's commitment to hometown pride, we developed a video (click here) that shares a peek at the City's many recreational opportunities and special events that make our community an exceptional place to live. We invite you to experience all the City has to offer!

-Aaron Adams, City Manager
The Many Ways Our City Cares

It's been quite a year for the world, our nation and our City!

Take a look at this video showcasing just a snapshot of the many ways that Temecula Cares.
November is Native American Heritage Month
Pechanga Pu’éska Mountain Day
Beginning in 2012, the City of Temecula has proudly proclaimed “Pechanga Pu’éska Mountain Day” as a local holiday each year on November 15. The annual holiday is an opportunity to reflect on the profound ways in which the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians, Temecula’s first citizens, shaped our community’s character and heritage.

Join us at the steps of City Hall on November 15, 2021 at sunset for a short but meaningful ceremony that will recite the annual holiday proclamation. The proclamation, originally drafted in 2012 by the City and Tribal Councils, reaffirms Pechanga Pu’éska Mountain Day as a City holiday and formally shares the Pu’éska Mountain story that bonded our community.

The impetus for Pechanga Pu’éska Mountain Day was also created into a documentary film by Brad Munoa, a member of the Pechanga Band of Luiseño Indians and a writer, director, producer for the Pechanga Creative Studios. The monumental people’s movement and the momentous ending that protected Pu’éska Mountain and the Temecula Valley is now a powerful award-winning documentary entitled “The Mountain That Weeps.” Temecula residents and businesses are urged to watch “The Mountain That Weeps” at mountainthatweeps.com.
