Message from Mayor Kapszukiewicz

We had a lot of great news this week, and I encourage everyone to share some of these items with your out-of-town friends and family who might not know the progressive steps Toledo is taking this year.
We
launched the ToleGO Bike Share
, which is the first public bike share program in Toledo. The program was made possible by generous support from Mercy Health, Owens Corning, ProMedica, and Toledo Refining Company, a grant from the Toledo Metropolitan Area Council of Governments, and a partnership with Metroparks Toledo. This is something progressive cities are doing and we are no different. It gives people another option for transportation - one that is healthier and more environmentally-friendly than a gas-guzzling car.
|
|
You have access to 100 bikes at 17 hubs within the city, available for use 24 hours a day. Anyone interested in learning more about ToleGO, can visit,
toledobikeshare.com
.
Also this week,
The Arts Commission
dedicated the Gateway sculpture, a tribute to Toledo's history that was designed by Laura and Tom Drugan of Seattle and fabricated at Flatlanders in Blissfield, Mich.
The magnificent 45-foot-tall piece of art stands at the redesigned Anthony Wayne Trail exit into Erie and Lafayette streets in the Warehouse District.
That entryway into downtown has been transformed into a celebration of our history of transportation, manufacturing, and innovation.

Toledo Fire & Rescue trains constantly so when there is a real emergency, our bravest are ready.
Thanks E17, T17, E7, E5, E16, E25, and M25 for the hustle to the top of the building.

Congratulations to Toledo Police Chief George Kral who will be presented with the The Press Club of Toledo Contributor Award because of his transparency with the community and the media, his efforts to build relationships in the community, and all of his social media efforts to connect people to the police department.

It is week three of Correct Recycling Awareness Month.
This week we are reminding everyone - do not bag your recyclables and do not put plastic bags in your blue recycling container. Please ... NO PLASTIC BAGS.

Tent City to provide food, services to Toledo's homeless

But beyond goods and services exchanged, organizers say it’s the relationships formed that have a lasting impact.
