Recycle Your Halloween Pumpkins in the Green Organics Cart
Give your pumpkins a second life by placing them in your green organics waste bin—it’s the simplest way to keep them out of landfills and turn them into nutrient‑rich compost. Before recycling, remove any candles, wax, stickers, glitter, or paint, since these materials don’t break down naturally. EDCO accepts clean, undecorated pumpkins as part of its organics program, and they can be placed loose, in a paper bag, or on top of yard trimmings in your green organics recycling bin. Keeping pumpkins out of the trash helps reduce methane emissions and supports California’s organic recycling goals.
This Halloween and autumn season, remember: if it grows, it goes!

Senior Center: Halloween Costume Contest & Drama Play
Join us for a spirited morning at the Park Terrace Café on October 30, starting at 11:15 a.m., as the Wabi Sabi Players bring the legendary tale of La Llorona to life on stage. This haunting folkloric story, cherished across Mexican and Latin American traditions, follows a grieving mother who roams the rivers at night - a perfect way to set the tone for Halloween fun. After the performance, stick around for our Annual Halloween Costume Contest and show off your festive creativity. RSVP at the Park Terrace front desk or call (760) 643‑5288 to reserve your spot.
