City Council Meets June 13; New Zoom Option Available for Remote Participation

The Vista City Council will hold a regular meeting on Tuesday, June 13, at 5:30 pm in Council Chambers at the Civic Center, 200 Civic Center Drive.

The City is introducing a new Zoom option for residents to participate remotely in Council meetings. Residents can speak on agenda items and offer public comment on any items that are not on the agenda. Speakers can offer comments in person or via Zoom for 3 minutes.

The meeting will be broadcast on the City's YouTube channel. However, the public comment option is not available on that platform.

First Movie of the Park of the Summer is June 17

Head to the Buena Vista Ball Fields this Saturday night for the City's first Movie in the Park of the summer. Bring the family for "Lyle, Lyle, Crocdile" starting at dusk (approximately 8 pm). Relax on your blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy your picnics and movie snacks. Dress warmly for June gloom!

Coffee with the Community on June 22

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department, the City of Vista, and the Vista Fire Department invite you to Coffee with the Community on Thursday, June 22, 5 pm-7 pm at Starbucks, 30 Main Street, Vista.

Meet the Captain of the Vista Sheriff's Station along with Sheriff's Deputies and Crime Prevention Specialists, the City Manager and City Staff, and Firefighters and Paramedics from the Vista Fire Department. Vehicles from the Sheriff's and the Fire Department will be on display. Bring the kids!

This is your opportunity to chat with us on any topic and enjoy a free Starbucks coffee. We look forward to meeting you!

Independence Day Fireworks Will Go Off on July 4!

The City of Vista is thrilled to announce the resumption of its much-anticipated Independence Day Celebration and fireworks display this year on July 4 at Brengle Terrace Park. Following the disappointment of previously announcing in April the cancellation of this year’s celebration due to the lack of available fireworks companies, the City is pleased to be able to partner with a company who recently became available to provide fireworks. The City is thrilled at this latest turn of events and is excited to offer one of Vista’s most cherished community events. Fireworks will go off at 9 p.m.

Vista Fire Department Announces Robbie Ford as New Deputy Fire Chief

The Vista Fire Department is pleased to announce the promotion of Robbie Ford to Deputy Fire Chief!

Robbie has 32 years of experience in the fire service beginning at North County as a firefighter/paramedic in 1990. He came to Vista in 1996 and worked as a firefighter/paramedic, engineer, and captain. In 2014, he went to the Encinitas, Solana Beach, and Del Mar Fire Departments and spent five years as a battalion chief and two and a half years as deputy chief. His most recent job has been with Valley Center Fire Protection District as an engine company captain. In July 2022, Robbie returned to Vista as a Battalion Chief.

In addition, Robbie has also worked as an ocean lifeguard with Encinitas and a deputy sheriff/flight medic with San Bernardino County Sheriff. Robbie has a Bachelor’s Degree in Occupations Safety and Health Administration and is currently working on his Master’s Degree in Public Administration and Emergency Management.
Public Arts Commission Invites Artists to Submit Works for 'VistaPOP!' Civic Gallery Exhibition

The City of Vista’s Public Arts Commission seeks artists to participate in a VistaPOP! Exhibit at the Civic Center Art Gallery. The VistaPOP! exhibit is a celebration Pop and Comic Art. The Gallery offers participating artists an opportunity to showcase original 2D and 3D artwork in Vista.
Vista Chamber of Commerce Celebrates 100th Anniversary

The Vista Chamber of Commerce celebrates its 100th anniversary on Wednesday, June 14 from 4 pm-6:30 pm at the Vistonian, 306 S. Santa Fe Avenue. The public is invited to attend.
