City of Vista Extends Condolences to HMLA-369 and the Family of Maj. Tyler Braconi

The City of Vista extends its deepest condolences to the family, friends, and fellow Marines of Maj. Tyler R. Braconi, who tragically lost his life in a helicopter crash in Imperial County during a routine training operation.

Maj. Braconi, 35, was an AH-1Z Viper pilot assigned to Marine Light Attack Helicopter Squadron 369 (HMLA-369), based at Camp Pendleton. Known as the “Gunfighters,” HMLA-369 is the City of Vista’s adopted Marine unit, a relationship formed in 2008 through the America Supporting Americans “Adopt-A-Unit” program. Since that time, the Vista community has proudly supported the men and women of HMLA-369, honoring their courage, sacrifice, and service.

HMLA-369’s mission is to provide combat-ready expeditionary aviation forces capable of worldwide deployment on short notice. As their commanding officer, Lt. Col. Christopher Hart, shared, “Our most valued asset is our people, the individual Marine, and Tyler was one of the greats. We mourn the loss of a ‘Gunfighter,’ a brave aviator and leader who served our nation with humility, strength, and purpose.”

The City of Vista joins the Marine Corps community and the Braconi family in mourning this profound loss and honoring Maj. Braconi’s dedicated service to our country.
