July is Parks & Rec Month

It's Parks & Rec Month, and we're inviting you to celebrate with us by getting some sun at a local park or trail, catching some waves at the Wave Waterpark, or celebrating theatrical art at a showing of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" at the Moonlight Amphitheatre!

Recreation & Community Services oversees a wide variety of services and opportunities, such as adult and youth sports, early childhood education programs, senior services, rental facilities, public art, and so much more.

There's something for everyone in Vista, and our Recreation & Community Services Department looks forward to recognizing this month with you!

Escape the Heat: Cool Zones

Does your family have a plan to escape the summer sun and heat? With temperatures rising, so is the need for accessible cool zones to cool down. In Vista, there are two official locations you can visit to escape the heat and take a break:

Gloria McClellan Senior Center

1400 Vale Terrace Dr.

(760) 643-5288

Vista Library

700 Eucalyptus Ave.

(760) 643-5113

People in San Diego County unable to get to a Cool Zone location without transportation assistance, such as older adults, people with disabilities, or people who are homebound, can call 2-1-1 to be connected to a transportation or rideshare service at no cost.

Recreation Vehicle (RV)

User Know Before You Go...

Your summer RV adventure starts with clean waterways! You can help keep pollutants, like bacteria, out of our waterways by using RV dump stations.

Tips for proper disposal:

  • Secure both ends of the hose before opening the tank valve.
  • Do not leave the hose unattended while dumping.
  • Tightly close valves when dumping is complete.
  • Only rinse spills toward the dump station inlet pipe.
  • Have dry clean-up materials on hand for spills.

Help protect the environment you love and enjoy by using official RV dump stations to keep pollutants out of our local waterways. To find dump stations or more resources, check out San Diego County's RV Dump Stations page: RV Resources
