April is Art, Culture & Creativity Month in Vista

Explore arts, culture, and creativity throughout the month of April! Most events and classes are free and for all ages. A full list of programs can be found online and printed at the Civic Center and Jim Porter Recreation Center. Check out some of our upcoming family-friendly activities:

Thursday, April 2, 10 a.m.-12 p.m.: Pop Up Art at the Rancho Buena Vista Adobe and mini tours open for all ages.

Friday, April 3, 10 a.m., 6-7 yr & 11:30 a.m., 8+: Dare To Draw at Thibodo Ranch House. Parents and grandparents welcome!

Saturday, April 4, 9-11:30 a.m.: Easter Egg Hunt at Brengle Terrace Park and Pop-Up Art at the City table.

We hope you'll pick up or print a copy of the calendar to find art classes and events that interest you. On the back, there's space to create, draw, or write anything that sparks your imagination. Submissions received by May 8 will be entered for a chance to win art supplies. See the calendar for more details.

You're Invited: Vista's 2026 Arbor Day Celebration and Earth Day Fest

Join the City of Vista on Saturday, April 18, for a back-to-back Arbor Day and Earth Day celebration! In partnership with West Coast Arborists, we will be commemorating Arbor Day with a tree planting demonstration and free tree sapling giveaway at the bocce ball courts in Brengle Terrace Park from 9 to 10 a.m.

Afterwards, head over to Alta Vista Botanical Gardens from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a fantastic Earth Day Festival! There will be vendors, children's activities, music, a compost/mulch giveaway, and more for all ages to enjoy. Enjoy the outdoors and stop by the City booth to learn about our programs and pick up a free pollinator plant (while supplies last).

Vista's Tree Giveaway Program is Back for 2026

The City of Vista is excited to relaunch the Free Tree Giveaway Program for 2026! This program offers Vista residents and active licensed Vista businesses with a variety of free trees to keep Vista beautiful and healthy. City of Vista residents and business owners can apply for a free tree to plant on their property or in the public right-of-way, adjacent to their property, with approval by City Staff.

Participants can have their tree delivered at no additional cost, redeem a tree using a voucher at Devil Mountain Nursery, or receive up to a $100 reimbursement for a tree or pollinator plant purchased from another nursery with an active Vista business license. The program is expected to launch by Arbor Day 2026.

Senior Shenanigans: Improv Class

Are you a 55+ senior looking for a fun way to be creative, strengthen your mind, find new friends, and build your confidence/communication skills? Stop by the Gloria McClellan Senior Center for Senior Shenanigans, the weekly Thursday Improv class!

Classes are held from 1-2:30 p.m., now through the month of April. All experience levels are welcome! Please call the Senior Center at (760) 643-5288 with questions.
