Sandbags Now Available at

Vista Fire Rescue Open Houses

Starting this Saturday, 10 unfilled sandbags (per household) will be available for free for Vista residents to pick up and prepare for El Niño and the upcoming stormy season. Please note sandbags are only available on a "first come, first serve" basis. Sandbags can be filled at any retail outlet that sells sand.

From 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Saturday, October 17, you're invited to join us at Fire Station #3 (1962 E. Vista Way), for our third Vista Fire Rescue Open House.

Why have we made open houses an annual tradition? October is nationally recognized as Fire Prevention Month! Celebrate with us at our Saturday Open Houses all month long (with the last open house being in November). Heat is Here for the Weekend

The heat is re-joining us for the weekend, and so should your wildfire preparedness! Higher temperatures + stronger breezes = wildfire risk.

In case of a wildfire, make sure you have a plan, emergency kit, and the ability to care for pets, children, and senior family members. Depending on the emergency, being able to sustain yourself for up to 72 hours or longer is key to survival. Emergency help may not be able to reach you or your family right away following a disaster, so being prepared is essential to your safety.

Seniors: Understanding Insurance Enrollment

Medicare rules are changing in 2027; know your options! Providers will be onsite at the McClellan Senior Center (1400 Vale Terrace Dr.) to assist you in exploring your enrollment options and answering questions.

Medicare Open Enrollment begins Thursday, October 15 and closes Monday, December 7. Changes made during this enrollment period take effect on January 1, 2027.

Save the Date! Next Public Tree Master Plan Workshop is November 5

Join your community for another fun discussion on Vista’s Public Tree Master Plan at our second Community Workshop on Thursday, November 5, 5:30 p.m.-7:30 p.m. In this workshop, attendees will learn about native trees and help develop our new master tree list. Food will be provided, children’s activities will be offered, and Spanish translation services will be available.
