Windsor Heights Small Business Recovery Grant
The City of Windsor Heights is proud to present the Windsor Heights Small Business Recovery Grant. This is for businesses who may not have qualified for the Greater Des Moines Partnership Small Business Recovery Grant because they have been in operation for less than one year. We will be accepting applications through June 30, 2020. To apply, please click the button below.
Metro Waste Authority is still planning to pickup items for our Spring Clean-Up on June 6th. Residents who live on streets under construction will still be able to participate and have been contacted directly in regards to how to dispose of their items.

Spring Clean-Up is an opportunity to get rid of unwanted trash that won’t fit in your garbage cart or may require a large item sticker. Examples include a couch, desk, lamp or chair. Click the button below to learn more about what you can and cannot put on your curb.

Per the governor’s proclamation and action taken at the 6/1 City Council meeting, the Colby Park Playground and Dog Park are now open. We encourage residents to be safe and practice social distancing. As a reminder, the Colby Park Playground is not routinely sanitized.
The Windsor Heights Community Center will reopen on 6/16/20 while operating at 50% capacity. Online reservations are coming soon. For more information on available dates, visit windsorheights.org.
Future of Windsor Heights Parks
We want your help planning the future of the City's parks. The City has hired Bolton & Menk to help us put together a park plan, which will create a vision for Colby Park, Lions Park, the Dog Park, and the trail system. Please take the survey below to let us know about how you use our parks and trails and what additions you'd like to see.
Storytime in the Park
We are looking for volunteers to help with Storytime in the Park. Please email wtucker@windsorheights.org for more information.

Storytime in the Park will be pushed back one month and will begin in July. It will take place every Tuesday in July and August at 10 am. We will post any date cancellations on social media and windsorheights.org.
Effective July 1, 2020, all Windsor Heights residents will have the opportunity to be full-access patrons of the Des Moines Public Library. The DMPL is the largest public library system in the state of Iowa, and even during the temporary building closure due to the COVID-19 crisis, the library card brings many benefits. Among them:

  • Access to the catalog and the 500,000+ books, CDs, DVDs, and audiobooks offered for checkout. A dedicated team of librarians works daily to make purchases specifically for DMPL patrons based on wait times, requests, and industry trends.
  • Free access to tens of thousands of downloadable eBooks and eAudiobooks on multiple platforms and apps, selected specifically by the team of collection librarians.
  • Free access to Kanopy, the streaming video service with thousands of classic and modern films for adults and children.
  • Dozens of digital resources, educational tools, digital programming, community resources, and much more at dmpl.org.
City Hall and the Public Safety Building remain closed to the public. We will make an announcement on social media and windsorheights.org when City buildings will reopen to the public.

Hazardous Waste Disposal Program
The City has partnered with Metro Waste Authority to bring a Hazardous Waste Disposal Program to Windsor Heights. Hazardous Waste includes items that are flammable or corrosive; they do not belong in the regular trash and shouldn’t be poured down the drain.

Residents can sign up to have these items picked up from their house. If a resident chooses to sign up for the Hazardous Waste Program, the cost is $25 for two 12-gallon bins and one large bag. Container deliveries and pick-ups occur on the second and fourth Fridays of the month.
