Wyandotte Municipal Services Low-Income Energy Assistance Fund

At Wyandotte Municipal Services, we know that keeping your home safe, warm, and comfortable is important. Beginning in October 2025, we are excited to introduce the Wyandotte CARES Program, a new local assistance program designed to help eligible customers with their electric and heating bills.

The program is available to households with an income at or below 60 percent of Michigan’s median income and applies only to primary account holders. To apply, simply visit our website at www.wyan.org/wyandottecares and submit the application with the required documents. Customers may apply more than once during the year if needed. Please note, however, that the program is capped each year, and funds are distributed until they run out.

We also want to make you aware that utility services may now be disconnected year-round for unpaid bills. Our goal is always to help you avoid service interruptions, and we encourage you to reach out to us as soon as possible if you are struggling to keep up with payments. The Wyandotte CARES Program was created for this very reason—to give our customers a local option for assistance and peace of mind.

Unlike other utilities that rely on the statewide program, Wyandotte Municipal Services chose to establish our own locally managed program. This means our dollars stay right here in Wyandotte, directly supporting our friends, neighbors, and community members.

If you have questions or would like help applying, please don’t hesitate to contact us by email at wyandottecares@wyandottemi.gov or visit our website at www.wyan.org/wyandottecares. We’re here to help.

Thank you for being a valued customer. Together, we can continue building a stronger community.

FOP Park Tree Planting Volunteers

On Saturday, September 27, volunteers gathered at F.O.P. Park to help plant 20 new trees in partnership with ReLeaf Michigan, the City of Wyandotte, and the MDNR Urban and Community Forestry program.

The trees add important age diversity to the park’s canopy and complement the recent playground and court improvements. Volunteers of all ages pitched in, learning proper planting techniques from ReLeaf Michigan’s experts while contributing to the long-term health and beauty of our community.

Thank you to everyone who came out to lend a hand. Your efforts will benefit Wyandotte for generations to come!

Exciting Updates Across Our City Parks!

Our parks and recreation team has been busy making improvements across the city to keep our spaces safe, welcoming, and fun for families.

At Bishop Park, the playscape is getting some attention with minor repairs. The rubber matting has already been fixed, and new parts have been ordered for the bridge.

Over the past couple of months, Pulaski Park has seen a major refresh. Visitors can now enjoy a new playscape, an outdoor fitness facility, a GaGa Ball Pit, a tot playscape, and motorcycle rockers. To tie it all together, the monkey bars and baby swings were painted to match.

Looking ahead, P.R.C.U. Park at 6th and Alkali will soon be home to a new playscape and a “Big Chair” feature, giving families even more to enjoy.

Earlier this year, F.O.P. Park welcomed a brand-new police-themed playscape complete with rockers. Construction has also begun on a new parking lot at F.O.P. Park. This project will help ease congestion on Bondie Street and provide a much-needed location for snow emergency parking during the winter months. Once complete, the lot will add valuable parking spaces that will serve residents year-round and play an important role when snow emergencies are declared.

Rotary Park also received a fire truck-themed playscape with swings and rockers earlier this year—already a favorite for kids and families.

These updates are part of our ongoing commitment to provide safe, engaging, and enjoyable spaces for everyone in the community. We’re excited for families to explore the refreshed parks and look forward to continuing improvements throughout the city. Be sure to visit and see all the new features in person!

Trick-or-Treat Hours & Safety Tips

The designated hours for "Trick-or-Treat" on Halloween, October 31st are 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm.

The Wyandotte Police Department - Michigan offers the following tips to make this event as safe as possible:

• A parent, guardian or older sibling should accompany children and only go to houses of people they know. If someone older cannot go, Trick or Treat with a group of children.

• Do not enter the house to obtain a treat.

• Parents should choose the correct clothing or costume - light colors are more easily seen at night. Make-up or masks should provide good visibility for the trick-or-treater.

• Use reflective tape on your costume and carry a flashlight so you can see and be seen easily.

• Plan your trick-or-treat route ahead of time. Pick streets that are well lit. Children should look carefully before crossing the street and cross only at corners. Never cross the street between parked cars or in the middle of the block.

• Watch for traffic

• Only give and accept wrapped or packaged candy.

• Parents should carefully inspect treats for signs of tampering or metal objects.

• Suspicious persons should be reported to the Police Department.

Have a safe and happy Halloween!
