City Seeking Animal Control Sheltering Service, Officer and Supervisor
Cat and Dog licenses also now available at City Hall; existing multi-year licenses to be honored
Yuma, Ariz. - The City of Yuma announces that it is now accepting proposals for businesses that may wish to provide animal sheltering services for the City. Additionally, the City is also accepting applications for employment for the positions of animal control officer and animal control supervisor.
Pet Licenses Now Also Available at City Hall
Additionally, residents wishing to obtain their required license for their cats or dogs under the City's recently amended animal control ordinance may now do so at City Hall. Now, residents may also obtain a license by visiting the Business License office on the first floor of City Hall, One City Plaza (3rd Street between 1st Avenue and Madison Avenue). However, in order to obtain a license in one visit, residents must bring a copy of their pets' vaccination records and written proof of sterilization (if wishing to license pet at the less expensive sterilized rate), along with a printed copy of the City of Yuma Pet License Application form, also found at the City's web site.
Previously, licenses were only available by online internet service, www.petdata.com (which may still be the most convenient method for most residents with an internet connection).
Please note, dogs and cats other than service animals (i.e. guide dogs for the visually impaired) are not allowed in City Hall.
Existing Multi-Year Licenses Will Be Fully Honored; New Tag Needed
Those City residents who have previously purchased a multi-year dog license for Yuma County through the Humane Society of Yuma will have their licenses honored in full by the City of Yuma. However, those pets will need a City of Yuma license tag, at no additional fee, through either www.petdata.com or from the Business License desk on the first floor of City Hall.
Sheltering Service Proposals
Proposals are now being accepted by the City of Yuma for animal sheltering services to be provided to the City of Yuma. In the event the City contracts for shelter services, the term of such agreement will be for one year, with an option to renew for up to an additional four one-year terms.
Any extension beyond the initial one-year agreement will also be contingent upon funding approval by the City Council.
The successful provider shall provide shelter facilities for all animals that will be impounded or quarantined by Yuma animal control officers. These facilities will be operated and maintained on a 24-hour per day basis, in neat, clean and sanitary conditions; in compliance with all applicable governmental statutes, ordinances, rules and regulations; and in conformance with established standards for humane animal care.
If you are interested in receiving the above referenced solicitation, please contact Peggy.Hayes@YumaAz.gov. An official form must be received by 4 p.m. Sept. 8.
