Police Department
The Redwood City Police Department is continuously monitoring the COVID-19 updates, and is collaboratively working with other state and local public safety entities, as well as city officials to ensure the safety of our community. San Mateo County Health continues to advise that we should all be focused on prevention. Regardless of the continued uncertainty, it is important to care for each other during these uncertain times, and we must all work together. In order to prevent the spread of COVID-19, the police department has taken precautionary steps. Currently, the main lobby at the police department is still operational; however, the front door is closed and Records personnel are screening visitors via an exterior telephone located adjacent to the door. Multilingual instructions are clearly posted by the phone and we encourage you to please follow these instructions. Records personnel will determine if the service you seek can be provided outside the building, or if you will receive assistance one person at a time inside the lobby area. Routine Live Scan services have been postponed at this time, however essential Live Scan services are still being provided on Tuesday’s only. We encourage you to contact our Records Division at 650-780-7100 (then press 6) in advance of your visit to avoid confusion and reduce wait times.
We also encourage everyone to use our on-line reporting system to report Non-Emergency incidents such as vandalism and minor thefts. Click

Construction
In compliance with the recent public health order, at this time, the City is allowing all housing-related construction to continue and to be inspected by the City. This includes multi-family, affordable housing developments, ADUs, as well as single-family home construction/renovations. We are not allowing or inspecting commercial/office developments.
Also per the County Order, the City is inspecting essential infrastructure projects such as water, sewer and gas lines. We will continue to evaluate permitted construction and subsequent City inspections based on further guidance from San Mateo County and the State. Per the Order, where construction and inspections are taking place, the City is asking contractors and developers to observe public health safety protocols to ensure compliance. The City is also utilizing video/virtual inspections to a limited degree.
The public should be aware that this could change with Governor Newsom's
Executive Order
issued yesterday, March 19. In collaboration with San Mateo County Health, more information will be available shortly.
