Alderman Reilly Reports
City to Remove Mask and Vaccine Requirements for Certain Public Settings on February 28, 2022
Mayor Lori Lightfoot and Public Health Commissioner Allison Arwady, MD announced the City will remove vaccine and indoor mask requirements for certain public spaces on February 28, 2022. This announcement aligns with the State of Illinois’ plan to lift the statewide indoor mask mandate on the same date.

Masks will continue to be required in health care settings, on public transit, and in other congregate settings. Additionally, masks are required to be worn in public spaces for 5 days after completing a 5 day quarantine if you test positive for COVID-19.

The Chicago Department of Public Health recommends Chicagoans who are immunocompromised or have a family member who is immunocompromised to still wear a mask in public settings.
