Council to hear resolution supporting park funding, street repairs, crime reform and environmental initiatives
Resolution includes Prop 68, 69, Keeping California Safe and more
Several organizations - including the League of California Cities, the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California and the California Police Chiefs Association - have requested that the City provide a resolution stating its position on several upcoming state legislative items.

Celebrate Cinco de Mayo in San Gabriel on May 3
Save the date for this year's celebration!
Join us for a night of art, food and music on Thursday, May 3 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 pm in the Mission District as we bring back Cinco de Mayo Mercado! We'll have live entertainment on the outdoor stage, art demonstrations, a Mercado with Latin American artisans, free kids' activities, food trucks, a beer and wine garden and more!

Esperanza Flores Ballet celebrates 39 years of shows
Experience this multi-cultural celebration on April 15
Esperanza Flores Ballet Folklorico celebrates their 39th Fiesta Internacional this Sunday, April 15 at 2:00 p.m. The event features dances from Spanish, Indian, Afro-Caribbean, and Columbian cultures with the troupe dedicating the second half of their performance to Mexico.

Esperanza Flores Ballet Folklorico is dedicated to preserving the native folk dances of Latin countries. Director and choreographer Esperanza Flores has been dancing for over 45 years sharing traditional Mexican and Spanish dances with her community.
Apply for a Community Services Commission award
Applications will be accepted until May 5
The Community Services Commission is proud to honor the community for its outstanding contributions to San Gabriel's youth and adult programs. To honor residents, the Community Services Commission has established two annual awards that will be presented at the June meeting, including the "Character Counts Sportsmanship Award" and the "Selfless Volunteer Award."

Applications can be found on our website, and applications will be accepted no later than May 5, 2017 at 5:00 p.m.

With summer fast approaching, we thought we'd take the opportunity to talk about pool safety.

If you own a pool, be sure to install a fence or barrier around the pool that is at least four feet tall. Take note that steps and ladders to above ground pools are secured, and that children are always supervised.
