Dumpling & Beer Fest is tomorrow evening

Join us in the Mission District tomorrow from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Be sure to join us tomorrow for this year's Dumpling & Beer Fest! Come attend this unique take on Oktoberfest, which combines San Gabriel's amazing dumplings and the region's unique craft beer. This year's event will feature a dumpling competition and an eating contest along with a larger event area.
The event is free to attend, though attendees who wish to sample beer must purchase a wristband. Wristbands may be purchased
here or in person. Please be advised that wristband quantities are limited, so we encourage you to purchase them in advance.

Council tightens development standards, adopts marijuana regulations

City Council wrap-up for October 3, 2017
|
|
Last night, the City Council approved several items on the consent calendar, and heard two items, including a proposed zone text amendment to the city's municipal code to prohibit all non-medical cannabis activity, and a zone text amendment for the development standards and review process for the city's single family residence zone.
In addition, the council also heard two new business items, including a debt management policy and a request to approve the Senate Bill 1 project list for the city.

From Baseball to Beer: Inside Ogopogo Brewing

San Gabriel's first and only brewery

Learn how professional baseball player-turned brewery co-owner Ryan Edell started Ogopogo Brewing - San Gabriel's first brewery. This new San Gabriel business occupies a former textile warehouse, and will include a brewery and tasting center upon opening.
Ogopogo Brewing will also be making its first public debut at Dumpling & Beer Fest on October 5 with several unique options. Be sure to attend to sample their unique flavors!

Ramona St and Del Mar Ave trench crossings now open

Crossings feature new signage, traffic signals and pavement
|
|
After a month of construction, crews have reopened the Ramona Street and Del Mar Avenue crossings over the trench. During that time, construction crews re-profiled both roadways and removed the temporary railroad tracks and crossing equipment. While minor work on both bridges continues into October, the reopening of Ramona and Del Mar marks a significant step forward for the San Gabriel trench project.

State of the City address to be held on October 19

Address will be held at the Mission Playhouse lobby

Please join Mayor Juli Costanzo at the Mission Playhouse lobby for this year's State of the City address to learn what the city has accomplished over the past year. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m., and the presentation begins at 12:00 p.m.

Fall Fun Festival to be held on October 27

Event will include trunk-or-treating, ghoulish games and more
|
|
Bring your little ghosts and goblins to the Fall Fun Festival for trunk-or-treating, children's carnival games and activities, a costume contest, cartoons at the Mission Playhouse and more. "Beetlejuice" will be shown, and the Grapevine Arbor Park will feature a scary haunted zone.
This family-friendly event is open to all ages, and will take place in the Mission District at 320 South Mission Drive.

Please be advised that Mission Road at the railway crossing will be closed from now until November 7 while ACE removes the temporary railroad tracks to perform pavement work. Northbound and southbound traffic lanes will be closed to traffic, and pedestrian access at the railroad crossing will be available most of the time. A detour along with additional information can be found
here.
In addition, construction on San Gabriel Boulevard between Commercial Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue will occur from now until December 4 while crews remove the temporary railway tracks. The street will remain open with at least one lane of traffic maintained in each direction while construction takes place. Finally, access to Angeleno Avenue will be restricted during the first phase of this project. Business access and pedestrian access will remain available. More information may be found
