Free bachata, salsa lessons and finger food at the Playhouse

Want to learn how to salsa? The city is offering free bachata, salsa lessons and a show at the Mission Playhouse Plaza on February 8 at 6:30 p.m. Known as Wine, Dine & Dance, the free event will be hosted by Hector Llamas and Brigitte Ryerson from The Granada LA dance studio.
The event will also include complimentary sangria tastings and finger food from Pez Cantina. |

We're happy to announce that Melissa Polinar will be playing at this year's San Gabriel Lunar New Year Festival on February 10 in the heart of the San Gabriel Mission District.
Known for her distinct soulful vocals and passionate musicianship, Melissa Polinar's work has allowed her to garner recognition by Questlove, Mark Kibble and India.Arie. We interviewed Melissa to learn more about her music and what fans can expect when she performs on February 10.

Playhouse announces new photo contest

Contest designed to document the Playhouse facade restoration project
|

The Mission Playhouse is about to embark on its facade restoration project, and they're inviting you to help document the process in an original, compelling and artful way.
Over the next two months, they're inviting amateur photographers to visit the Playhouse to take photos of the before, during and after phases of the exterior painting project. Photos can be of any portion of the exterior of the Playhouse. Please keep in mind that photographers will not have any access to the interior of the theater.

San Gabriel to host senior Valentines dance

Dance will take place on February 15 at the recreation center

Are you searching for something to do for Valentines Day? Dance cheek-to-cheek with your sweetheart at the first annual senior Valentines dance! The dance will take place at the Adult Recreation Center located at 324 South Mission Drive on February 15 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
A DJ will be on hand along with light refreshments. Registration is $5 per person, and please do register no later than February 12. A minimum number of participants is required for this event.
Any person with a disability who requires a modification or accommodation in order to participate should direct such request to the Community Services department at 626.308.2875 at least 48 hours before the appointment, if possible.

San Gabriel to host cleanup on March 3

Bring your bulky items, electronics and hazardous waste
|
|
Get ready, San Gabriel! The city is hosting another community cleanup event on March 3 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Public Works Yard located at 917 East Grand Avenue.
This is your chance to bring bulky items (such as furniture, rugs, mattresses and appliances), electronic waste (such as televisions, printers, computers, power cords and more) and hazardous waste (such as batteries, bulbs, paint, oil, medical, toxic or liquid waste). Hazardous waste will be handled by the County of Los Angeles.
