City Council to initiate study with LA County Fire

In a unanimous vote, the City Council approved the start of a feasibility study with Los Angeles County Fire. If you've been following our blog, you're aware that the San Gabriel Fire Department was previously engaged in a tri-city fire agreement with San Marino and South Pasadena. Since that agreement was dissolved, a study was commissioned to evaluate the San Gabriel Fire Department and the services it provides to our community.

As the City develops its budget for the 2018-19 fiscal year, here's an update on how the next proposed budget is progressing. The wrap-up includes a breakdown of every City department, a look at general fund revenues and more.

Summer is around the corner, and Community Services is proud to offer a variety of aquatic programs for all ages!
Programs include swim lessons, lap swimming and water aerobics. In addition, the department is also offering several new programs. Registration begins on May 21 at the Recreation Office, and you may view a full list of programs here.

Kick off the Summer Nights series in the Mission District on June 14 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Surf's Up San Gabriel! This year's event will feature a live concert by Woodie and the Longboards, food, a kids zone, fun, games and a beer and wine garden.

San Gabriel Police Department to celebrate National Bike Month
|

In celebration of National Bike Month, the San Gabriel Police Department will be hosting a free bicycle tune-up for San Gabriel residents. Roll by the Public Works facility on May 26 from 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. to take advantage of free bicycle washes and tune-ups.

APA Festival continues at the Playhouse

Watch King Hu's "Dragon Inn" and Frank Lin's "American Fusion"

This week, the Mission Playhouse will screen two films as the APA Festival continues. Catch legendary Chinese filmmaker King Hu's 1967 martial arts masterpiece "Dragon Inn" on May 17 at 7:30 p.m. In addition, attend an outdoor screening of Frank Lin's American Fusion on May 20 at 8:00 p.m. in the Grapevine.
The Asian Pacific American festival runs through Saturday, May 26 with workshops, film screenings and performances.
