This year's Fall Fun Festival to be held on October 27

Trunk-or-treating, ghoulish games, kids' activities and more will be offered at this family-friendly event.

Police department to hold prescription drug take back day

Event will occur on October 28 at department headquarters
|

The San Gabriel Police Department, in collaboration with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration, will be participating in the 14th annual National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on October 28 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the police department headquarters.
Bring your expired or unused prescription drugs to 625 South Del Mar Avenue. The service is free and anonymous, and no questions are asked.

42nd Turkey Trot to be held November 18

San Gabriel's healthiest family event is approaching! This year's Turkey Trot will be held on Saturday, November 18 at Vincent Lugo Park at the corner of Wells Street and Ramona Street. This year's event will feature a 5K and 10K race, a youth 1K run and a 5L fun walk.
Register by October 19 for a discount on registration.

Following the devastating effects of Hurricane Harvey, two members of the San Gabriel Police Department - Officer Martin Garcia and Detective Timothy Logan - traveled to Houston to help aid in the city's immediate recovery efforts.

Mission Playhouse to host diversity in arts event

Event takes place in the Playhouse lobby on October 23

Are you an arts educator? Do you like to perform? Come to the Playhouse on October 23 at 6:00 p.m. as leaders in the Los Angeles theater community explore the topics of diversity and equality in the arts. Billed as "Finding Your Voice as an Artist in a Multicultural Society," the evening includes light refreshments and musical entertainment followed by an industry speaker panel from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

From baseball to beer: inside Ogopogo Brewing

Editor's note: last week's issue used an incorrect link to our Ogopogo Brewery story. We've highlighted this story again this week with the correct link.
Learn how professional baseball player-turned brewery co-owner Ryan Edell started Ogopogo Brewing - San Gabriel's first brewery. This new San Gabriel business occupies a former textile warehouse, and will include a brewery and tasting center upon opening.
Ogopogo Brewing will also be making its first public debut at Dumpling & Beer Fest on October 5 with several unique options. Be sure to attend to sample their unique flavors!

Mission Road bridge crossing over the trench

As a reminder, please be advised that Mission Road at the railway crossing will continue to be closed until November 7 while ACE removes the temporary railroad tracks to perform pavement work. Northbound and southbound traffic lanes will be closed to traffic, and pedestrian access at the railroad crossing will be available most of the time. A detour along with additional information can be found
here.
In addition, construction on San Gabriel Boulevard between Commercial Avenue and Santa Fe Avenue will occur from now until December 4 while crews remove the temporary railway tracks. The street will remain open with at least one lane of traffic maintained in each direction while construction takes place. Finally, access to Angeleno Avenue will be restricted during the first phase of this project. Business access and pedestrian access will remain available. More information may be found
