City Council denies permit for Tibetan Herbal Feet Spa
A wrap-up of the March 6 City Council is now online
In a 3-1 vote (with Councilmember Liao voting against the motion and Mayor Costanzo recusing herself from the hearing), the City Council voted to deny a conditional use permit for China Tibetan Herbal Feet Soak.

San Gabriel Police Department promotes four officers
City welcomes two new captains, one lieutenant and one sergeant
In a ceremony held at the March 6 City Council meeting, Chief Harris officially promoted four veteran officers within the San Gabriel Police Department.

Fabian Valdez and Alex Quijada will now be captains within the department, reporting directly to Chief Harris. Rene Hernandez has been promoted to the position of lieutenant from his previous rank of sergeant, and Martin Garcia has been elevated to the role of sergeant from his previous role as a SCET officer.
Making San Gabriel greener: 50 trees added to Mission Rd
Trees were added as part of the City's street tree master plan
San Gabriel's urban forest is growing with the addition of fifty Australian Willows along Mission Road.

This latest tree planting project spans from Del Mar Avenue to San Gabriel Boulevard and is part of the ongoing implementation of the City's street tree master plan. Click the link below to see photos of the City's latest planting project!
SGPD officers celebrate Read Across America
Annual event celebrates the importance of reading
Last week, Sergeant Martin Garcia and Lieutenant Rene Hernandez went to Dewey Avenue Elementary School to participate in Read Across America. If you aren't aware of the celebration, Read Across America is a nationwide event that takes place on Dr. Seuss's birthday.

In San Gabriel, Sergeant Garcia and Lieutenant Hernandez read "Hop on Pop" by Dr. Seuss to a class at Dewey Avenue Elementary. We've included photos from last week's reading at the link below.
"The Little Mermaid" at the Playhouse this Friday
Temple City Performing Arts to perform from March 9 to March 11
Temple City Performing Arts presents Disney's "The Little Mermaid" this Friday, March 9 to Sunday, March 11. Journey under the sea with Ariel, Sebastian, Flounder and friends in this musical featuring a live orchestra accompaniment of Disney's classic tale.
