Be sure to attend the San Gabriel Police Department's trilingual community meeting this Saturday at the Asian Youth Center from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Members of the department will be on hand to discuss general policing, traffic laws, child abuse, mental health issues and more.

City moves forward with new police station
A wrap-up of the February 20 City Council meeting is now online
At last night's meeting, the City Council voted to approve an updated plan for the San Gabriel Police Department's new station. The previous police station plans were drafted in 2013 and expired in 2015 after the project stalled due to unforeseen delays.

SGPD to hold trilingual community meeting this Saturday
Meeting will be held in English, Mandarin and Cantonese
The San Gabriel Police Department will be holding a community meeting this Saturday at the Asian Youth Center from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in English, Mandarin and Cantonese at 100 Clary Avenue.

Join members of the department in a discussion about general policing, traffic laws, child abuse and mental health issues.
Want to help preserve San Gabriel's history?
Join the Historic Preservation and Cultural Resource Commission
If you're curious about how you can help preserve San Gabriel's history, becoming a commissioner could be an option for you.

With the recent adoption of the historic preservation ordinance, the city is looking to fill a five-member commission that will advise the City Council and Planning Commission on all matters relating to the identification, protection, retention, preservation and registration of cultural resources in the city. If you're interested in joining, be sure to submit your application at the link below.
Playhouse receives $25,000 donation
Donation comes from United Charity Foundation
Last week, the Mission Playhouse received a $25,000 check from the United Charity Foundation, a local organization that promotes health and well being. United Charity Foundation is the presenting sponsor of the Asian Pacific American Festival (known as APA Fest), which will take place at the Playhouse in May.

APA Fest will include a series of workshops and participation activities for those that are young and old alike, showcasing martial arts activities, Chinese opera, films, discussions, theater events and more.
Ballet at the Playhouse this weekend
Pasadena Civic Ballet presents Cinderella
The Pasadena Civic Ballet presents Cinderella this weekend, Saturday, February 24 at 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Witness the hilarious rivalry between the mischievous step-sisters and delight in the sweeping waltzes performed by Cinderella and her dashing prince.

Heads up: City Council election date changing
Next City Council election to be held on March 3, 2020
In accordance with California Senate Bill 415, San Gabriel will be moving its City Council elections to the first Tuesday after the first Monday in March of every even-numbered year, beginning in March 2020. This means that the next City Council election will be held on March 3, 2020.
New traffic signals at Valley Boulevard and Palm Avenue
New lights to be activated on February 23
In preparation for the official grand opening of the Sheraton Los Angeles San Gabriel, traffic signals at the intersection of Palm Avenue and Valley Boulevard will be activated on February 23. The hotel project installed the new traffic signals as a mitigation measure to improve traffic and safety.
