A Message from the Mayor
As we continue to reflect on America’s 250th anniversary, I am grateful for the way our community came together to mark this historic milestone. Part of the City’s America 250 celebration included our morning Fourth of July Parade followed by fireworks over the Gulf that evening. These events gave us a meaningful opportunity to honor our nation’s history and celebrate the community spirit that makes Naples so special. I also want to thank our residents, visitors, staff, first responders, and all who participated for helping keep the day’s festivities safe and enjoyable for everyone.
Please join us on July 8 at 5:45pm on the steps of City Hall for a very special, nationwide America 250 event hosted by the Daughters of the American Revolution. As part of a national commemoration marking the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence, communities across the country will take part in readings that evening. The reading at City Hall will begin promptly at 6:00 p.m., and attendees are encouraged to arrive early.
City Council also continues to focus on important long-term issues, including the future of the Naples Airport. My priority remains protecting the City’s rights, preserving our Comprehensive Plan and local codes, and ensuring decisions are made thoughtfully, transparently, and in the best interest of Naples residents.

Stay Informed with the City's Online Public Notice System
The City of Naples encourages residents to subscribe to the online Public Notice System through the Collier County Clerk of Courts to receive timely updates on City meetings, legal notices, and other official announcements.
Accessible through the Legal Notices link on the City's homepage, the online system offers 24/7 access to current and archived notices, a searchable database, and optional email alerts whenever new City of Naples notices are posted. The system provides a convenient, transparent, and efficient way to stay informed about local government activities and community matters.

Naples Senator Kathleen Passidomo Receives BOAF's Inaugural Legislator of the Year Award
Senator Kathleen Passidomo, a Naples resident, has been recognized with the inaugural Legislator of the Year Award from the Building Officials Association of Florida (BOAF), honoring her leadership and commitment to building safety and the building code profession.
The nomination was submitted by Stephen Beckman, the City of Naples' Director of Building Services and Building Official, who serves on BOAF's Legislative Committee. In that role, Beckman works with fellow building officials to provide technical expertise to state legislators on proposed building code legislation and code administration.
Over the past three years, Beckman has met regularly with Senator Passidomo to discuss building resiliency, proposed legislation, the use of private providers, and lessons learned from Hurricanes Ian, Helene, and Milton. During the 2026 legislative session, their collaborative efforts helped advance legislation that strengthened protections for residents while preserving communities' Community Rating System (CRS) standings with FEMA, helping protect flood insurance benefits for property owners.
The City of Naples is proud of Beckman's contributions to state policy discussions and congratulates Senator Passidomo on receiving this inaugural statewide recognition.

Celebrating America250 in the City
The City celebrated Independence Day with a full day of patriotic festivities on Saturday, July 4, beginning with the annual parade along 5th Ave S and culminating in a spectacular fireworks display that evening. Please enjoy this special video highlighting America250 throughout the City.
Community Reading of the Declaration of Independence
The celebration of America's founding continues on Wednesday, July 8, as the Big Cypress Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution joins communities across the nation in commemorating the 250th anniversary of the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence through a simultaneous, sea to shining sea reenactment.
The ceremony will begin at 6:00 PM with an opening prayer, followed by a reading of the Declaration of Independence by Command Sergeant Major W. Douglas Gibbens, U.S. Army (Ret.).
Attendees are encouraged to arrive at Naples City Hall by 5:45 PM before the ceremony begins.

It's "Hatching" Time!
Through July 5, our "Turtle Tally" is up to 442 nests and 386 false crawls, but most importantly, we officially have 3 hatched nests and 0 disorientations!
As we enter peak season, and nesting & hatchling activity increases, it's more important than ever to:

Keep the beach dark after sunset: turn off unnecessary lights and close window coverings.

Use turtle-safe lighting and fixture shields.

Dispose of trash properly, fill in any holes, and remove beach equipment each evening.

Observe quietly from afar and do not disturb nesting sea turtles, nor their nests or hatchlings.

Report distressed wildlife to the FWC at 888-404-FWCC (3922) or online (Wildlife Alert).
- Stay on marked paths. Walking on dunes can destroy vegetation and accelerate erosion.
Every covered window, light switched-off, and obstacle-free stretch of sand increases the odds of a successful nest and a safer journey.

Public Input Phase Extended for Comprehensive Plan Update
Following discussions at Planning Advisory Board and City Council meetings in May and June, City Council extended the public input phase for the Comprehensive Plan update to provide additional time for public review and feedback of the draft plan.
