No Campus Access 11/30 - 12/10
With COVID-19 cases on the rise, and possible travel plans by our employees over the Thanksgiving holiday, we are suspending campus access from 11/30 through 12/10. We are committed to health and safety at SCC and believe this to be in the best interest of all employees.
Spring Enrollment is Here!
Spring 2021 priority registration is underway starting today, Monday, Nov. 23! Here are some important upcoming dates for new and continuing students:
  • November 23-24 - Priority 0
  • November 25 - Priority .5 and Priority .75
  • November 25 through December 11 - Priority 1
  • December 14-16 - Priority 2
  • December 17-18 - Priority 3
  • December 21 - Open enrollment by appointment
  • December 22 - Open enrollment
Students should have received their enrollment appointment day and time. They can register for classes anytime thereafter via eServices.
Transfer Deadlines
Reminder: The deadline to submit your University of California (UC) Fall 2021 application is Monday, Nov. 30. The deadline to submit your California State University (CSU) Fall 2021 application is Friday, Dec. 4.

Caring Campus Webinar for Classified Staff
Classified staff are invited to a free webinar, "Professional Classified Staff Front and Center In Improving Student Success" on Thursday, Dec. 10, at 10 am. Featured speakers include SCC President Michael Gutierrez.

The Caring Campus program, sponsored by the Institute for Evidence-Based Change, "leverages the value of connectedness to dramatically increase the likelihood that all students will succeed in attaining their educational goals." This one-hour webinar shares the experiences of those actively engaged in this work, covering why and how Caring Campus is helping staff and students.

LGBTQ+ Summit Proposals Due 12/4
The 3rd Annual California Community College LGBTQ+ Summit will be held virtually April 28-29, 2021. ARC is the lead college for the event, working in partnership with the state Chancellor’s Office. This year’s theme is “Beyond Rainbows: Building the will and the skills to serve and affirm our diverse queer and trans students.” You can register now and learn more about the event.

Dec. 4 is the deadline for presentation proposals.
Holiday Shopping on a Budget
Holiday shopping doesn't have to be expensive if you stay mindful of your budget. Join us for a "Smart Holiday Shopping Tips" workshop Wednesday, Dec. 2, from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. via Zoom. Learn new shopping approaches that will help you spend less and save money this holiday season.
 
Topics include:
  • Defining your true meaning of the holiday season
  • Gift-giving expectations vs. reality
  • Credit card vs. cash
  • Gift budgets
  • Making a list and checking it twice!

CCs Uniquely Situated for Racial Healing
Professor Mark Dennis' article, "Community Colleges and the Path Toward Racial Healing," was recently published on Inside Higher Ed. In the piece, Dennis argues that community colleges are distinctly situated to become spaces for the growth and restructuring that society needs, especially in the areas of police reform and race relations.

President Gutierrez's Office Hour
President Gutierrez will be holding an office hour twice a month during the Fall semester. Office hours will be held on the second Friday at 8:30 a.m. and fourth Thursday at 2:30 p.m. The next upcoming office hour will be Friday, Dec. 11, 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Please look for an email prior to each event to sign up. Zoom info will be sent via a calendar invite on the day before the event to those who signed up.
