Coach McGowan Serves the Houseless During COVID-19
SCC Football Coach Jordan McGowan is the subject of a wonderful feature on NextGenRadio @ Capitol Public Radio. The article talks about how McGowan is pursuing his passion of helping the unhoused community in Sacramento during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"I try to make sure that I meet everybody…[and] get to know them. I know what it feels like to not be seen. So to know that other folks are seen and they feel love through us, that’s special," McGowan tells NextGenRadio.

Bonus brag: The article was written by journalist Sara Nevis, a recent graduate of SCC! We are so proud of our Panthers out in the community, making the world a better place!

Ethics Symposium
Concerns are growing about a crisis in higher education. Some of these concerns are about an ongoing lack of equity and access for historically disadvantaged populations, the high and rising tuition and fees that saddle college students with crippling long-term debt, and meeting not only the short-term, but also the long-term educational needs of students.

If these are concerns of yours, please attend the 15th Annual CRC-CPPE Fall Ethics Symposium, which takes place Oct. 27-28 from 12-3pm each day via Zoom Webinar.

The problems of quality, equity, and access have been exacerbated by the current COVID-19 pandemic. Our interdisciplinary ethics symposium will highlight problems, offer potential solutions and recognize bright spots in higher education.

The event is interdisciplinary, intended for a general audience, student-centered, free, and open to the general public.
Intersex 101 Workshop

The workshop will be facilitated by Mari Wrobi, a queer, nonbinary, and intersex advocate born and raised in Sacramento. They currently work full-time at the first and only shelter for LGBTQ+ youth experiencing homelessness in Sacramento; intern at the Gender Health Center, a non-profit that provides free services to transgender people in the area; and are an intersex rights advocate and educator with interACT: Advocates for Intersex Youth.
