Sexual assault, also known as sexual violence, is one of the most serious yet underreported crimes in the world. According to the CDC, more than half of women and almost one in three men have experienced sexual violence involving physical contact in their lifetime.

Los Rios' WEAVE Confidential Advocate is available to support students and employees who have experienced domestic violence, sexual assault, or sexual harassment. Services are free
and confidential.
Denim Day – April 30
On Wednesday, April 30, wear jeans or denim to raise awareness and show support for survivors of sexual violence. Denim Day is a global movement to challenge misconceptions about sexual violence and advocate for survivors.
Preventing Sexual Violence
We all have a role in prevention. Creating safer environments, challenging harmful social norms, and empowering individuals through education can help reduce sexual violence in our communities.

SEAP APPLICATIONS NOW OPEN FOR FY 2025-26
We are excited to announce that applications are now open for the Student Equity and Achievement Program (SEAP) funding for the 2025-26 fiscal year. SEAP was established with the goal of eliminating achievement gaps and supporting the success of disproportionately impacted (DI) student populations.

We invite you to submit your proposals for innovative programs and activities that align with the goals outlined in SCC's Student Equity Plan (SEP). To qualify for funding, your request must address at least one of the key metrics and target one DI student group.
Please review the SCC Student Data Dashboards to better understand the student achievement gaps and identify how your program can help close these gaps.

Get to Know Your Rights "Red Cards"
The Know Your Rights immigration "Red Cards" provide important information about an individual's constitutional rights during interactions with immigration enforcement officers, such as ICE. These cards serve as a resource to help individuals assert their rights effectively and include the following:
- Clear, concise language outlining an individual’s right to remain silent and refuse consent to searches without a warrant.
- Instructions on how to respond to ICE officers or law enforcement while protecting legal rights.
- A tangible resource that reduces fear and confusion in high-pressure situations.
- A reminder to request legal representation and refrain from signing documents without counsel, ensuring due process.
These cards are an essential tool for undocumented individuals to be informed and prepared in case of an encounter with immigration authorities.
Staff and faculty can request cards by emailing immigration@losrios.edu.
Available languages include English, Spanish/English, Hmong/English, Ukrainian/English, Russian/English, Tagalog/English, and Farsi/English. Vietnamese, Cantonese, and Mandarin versions are coming soon.

The California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office is seeking input from faculty and classified professionals on the Disability Services and Programs for Students (DSPS). Your feedback will help shape future improvements and ensure that students with disabilities receive the support they need to thrive.
This short 5-minute survey is completely confidential, and your insights will contribute to program reviews, enhanced accessibility, and the biennial DSPS Legislative Report. The survey closes May 2.

Writing Workshop for Students! – Structuring a College Paper
Encourage your students to improve their writing skills by attending an upcoming Writing Center workshop on structuring a college paper.
