Handshake, the leading career services platform connecting students with employers nationwide, has recognized the Los Rios Community College District as a case study for its innovative use of the platform. Designed to streamline job searches, internships, and career-building opportunities, Handshake has become an essential tool for empowering students to achieve their professional goals.
Los Rios' recognition highlights the collaborative efforts of the District Handshake Committee, which is made up of college Work Experience and Internship Program, Career Center, Financial Aid, and Workforce Development teams. Los Rios has successfully expanded employer partnerships, streamlined services, and empowered students to access meaningful career opportunities.

Hiring the Best & Equity Representative Training
Any LRCCD employee wishing to serve on a hiring or interview committee must first complete the Hiring the Best training course. Additionally, employees interested in serving as the equity representative on a hiring committee must complete the Equity Representative Training course.
Training sessions are available at various district or campus locations, including online. The next online workshop will take place:
- Friday, January 31, 2025, from 9:00 to 11:00 AM
This training fulfills the requirements of the EEO Plan Component 8: Training for Screening/Selection Committees as mandated by Title 5 Regulations, section 5300 et. seq., and meets State Professional Development Guideline B for staff development, in-service training, and instructional improvement.
Prepare to contribute meaningfully to the hiring process while supporting equity and inclusion in your role!

Confidential Support Through WEAVE
Los Rios partners with WEAVE, Sacramento County's leading provider of crisis intervention services for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and sexual harassment. The Confidential Advocate is not a Los Rios employee, ensuring an additional layer of confidentiality and independence in the support they provide.
To reach the Confidential Advocate for support, email weave@losrios.edu or call (916) 568-3011. Virtual "Meet your Advocate" hours are also available Monday through Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 am via Zoom.

Accessible Documents Training
Registration is open for WebAIM Accessible Document Trainings, sponsored by the California Community Colleges Accessibility Center. The next cohort is from Monday, February 3, through Wednesday, April 30. Each cohort is limited to 135 participants.
This free training program for California Community College faculty and staff is designed to equip participants with the skills to create, evaluate, and optimize accessible documents in Word, PowerPoint, and Adobe PDF. Additionally, participants have access to a bonus module focusing on Excel accessibility.
All five course modules will be available immediately when a cohort opens, allowing participants to progress at their own pace. The course takes approximately 10 hours and must be completed within 60 business days to earn a certificate of completion.
