Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Breast Cancer Awareness Month is a time to spread awareness about breast cancer, which remains the most common cancer among American women, aside from skin cancer, according to the CDC. Regular mammograms are the most effective way to detect breast cancer early, when treatment is most successful and before symptoms appear. The National Breast Cancer Foundation offers resources, including early detection screenings, breast health education, and a supportive community.

Art Students and Faculty Collaborate on New Campus Murals
Sacramento City College’s Fischbacher Fine Arts Building is now home to two new murals, thanks to the dedication of Professor Gioia Fonda and her mural class. After gaining approval from college administrators, Professor Fonda and her students brought these designs to life—one celebrating art itself and another featuring the SCC panther mascot.

The project fostered creativity and teamwork among students, blending skill levels and age groups, and providing students with valuable experience in public art. The murals have added vibrancy to our campus and represent a commitment to fostering creativity within our academic environment.

Do Your Part to Stop Cyberbullying
This October, we observe National Bullying Prevention Month, raising awareness about the impact of bullying on students, particularly in its digital form. Cyberbullying can take many forms, including trolling, catfishing, and sexual harassment, and has become an increasing concern with the widespread use of social media among college students.

Explore Hope and Change at the Fall Ethics Symposium
Cosumnes River College and Sacramento State University invite all staff and faculty to attend the 19th Annual CRC-CPPE Fall Ethics Symposium on Monday, October 28, 9:00 am to 4:30 pm at Sacramento State's University Union, Hinde Auditorium.
This year’s theme, “The Ethics of Hope and Change,” will address the current landscape of pessimism among younger generations and offer valuable perspectives on fostering optimism and change in our institutions. Join us for a day of thought-provoking discussions with distinguished speakers and contribute to shaping a more hopeful future for our students. Want to get involved and make a difference? The College Ballot Bowl is your chance to compete with colleges across the state to register the most students to vote. Hosted by the California Students Vote Project, this friendly competition promotes civic engagement while making voter registration easy and accessible. Celebrate 55 Years of EOPS with SCC!
At Sacramento City College, EOPS continues this vital mission by addressing equity gaps for disproportionately impacted students. This Fall, SCC is supporting over 800 EOPS students, including more than 50 former foster youth within the NextUp program and over 60 single parents through the CARE program. By breaking down social, systemic, and institutional barriers, EOPS has paved pathways to success and upheld a legacy of equity and inclusion.
