Free Student Mental Health Services
Our students’ mental health and wellness are important to us! All Los Rios students are eligible for free and confidential mental health services through the Health Services Fee program. Los Rios Student Health and Wellness Services provides several ways to care for students’ mental health, including:

Therapy Appointments: Students can meet with a Health and Wellness Center therapist or advocate in person or virtually.

Togetherall Peer Support: This is a safe online space to connect anonymously with other students to get and give support – available 24/7.

BetterMynd Online Therapy: They can talk to an online licensed therapist during the day, evenings, and weekends. BetterMynd also has a 24/7 on-demand emotional support and crisis line, 1 (844) BTR-MYND (287-6963), where they can connect with a clinician who can provide immediate support.
For all Los Rios employees, don’t forget that the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is available to provide free helpful resources, including confidential counseling, wellness coaching, and stress management.
Remember, you are not alone. Try it out and talk it out!

Students Are Getting Ready for Spring 2025 Enrollment!
The Sacramento City College Spring 2025 class schedule is live! Please encourage students to check out what classes are being offered for the spring semester and to start planning their schedules. Their priority enrollment day/time has been posted to their eServices account, and registration begins Monday, November 25. This is a great opportunity for students to secure their classes early and set themselves up for success!

SCC recently hosted the CCC to HBCU Transfer Caravan, welcoming students to connect with representatives from Historically Black Colleges and Universities. It was an amazing and effective day filled with info sessions, one-on-one chats, and even financial aid workshops and guidance—all tailored to help students explore the benefits of transferring to an HBCU!

Attendees learned about admissions, financial aid options, and what makes HBCUs unique. If you missed out, consider joining us next year for this amazing opportunity to explore potential transfer options and make meaningful connections with HBCU reps.

UC/CSU Fall 2025 Applications
Applications are open for Fall 2025 admissions to the University of California (UC) and California State University (CSU) systems. Students interested in transferring need to make sure to get their applications in by the following deadlines:
- UC: Monday, December 2
- CSU: Monday, December 2
- Sacramento State: Sunday, December 15

City Café Opens Today!
Exciting news, Panthers! The City Café hot food counters are reopening today, Tuesday, November 12, thanks to Pacific Dining! Stop by M-Th from 8:00 am to 3:00 pm, or Fridays from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm and enjoy a range of freshly made meals on campus again.
Also, don't forget to grab a coffee from the Oasis Coffee Bar open Mon- Fri from 8:00am to 3:00pm in City Cafe.

"Movember" for Men's Health Awareness
Movember is an annual event that challenges men to embrace their facial hair for a cause and it’s held every November. Movember is a growing movement aiming to raise awareness about men's health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health, and suicide

Soroptimist "Live Your Dream" Scholarship
Local Soroptimist International chapters are seeking grant applications from women who serve as the primary earners for their families and are in need of financial assistance to continue their education or training.
Live Your Dream Award finalists will be awarded up to $16,000 to help offset tuition costs, purchase books, get transportation, or find reliable childcare so they can worry less about how to pay their bills and focus on reaching their dreams. Applications are due by Friday, November 15.

Participate in conversations about labels and identities that impact our communities.
Words have power. How do we come to be called Latinx, Chicano, American Indian, and other identifying labels? What we call ourselves, and what others call us, these labels identify us. What is the impact on us and our communities? How do labels empower and control us? Join the RAZA Center on Thursday, November 14, 12:00 to 1:00 pm in the Student Center; for an interactive workshop activity and panel as we explore labels and identity.
