Join the sustainability club, Regenerate@SCC for Earth Day 2025 on Tuesday, April 22, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. in the Main Quad. This is your chance to learn how to protect the planet and connect with some incredible local organizations like Sacramento Valley Conservancy, Cal Fire, Refill Madness, and Atlas Disposal.

Thanks for Coming Out!
Celebrate City Draws 400+ Attendees
This year's Celebrate City knocked it out of the park with more than 400 people attending. The day started with special free admission to a Panthers baseball game at Union Stadium, followed by festivities in the Quad with over 70 college programs, student clubs and community partners tabling, music, food trucks, free popcorn and cotton candy, games and activities for the whole family, and photo ops with SCC mascot Hughie!
A special congratulations goes out to the Native American Student Success Center for winning the Celebrate City tabling trophy! 🎉

Student Elections Are This Week
Please encourage students to vote in student elections! Voting will be conducted online and only takes a few minutes and makes a lasting impact on the campus environment and the student experience! Currently enrolled students can vote for 2025-2026 The Student Associated Council (SAC) leaders and the districtwide student trustee.

Black Student Success Week
The California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office (CCCCO) is excited to present the 6th Annual Black Student Success Week, to be held Monday, April 21, through Friday, April 25! This year’s theme, “Lift Up, Level Up: The Rise of Black Serving Institutions,” will emphasize how California Community Colleges serve underserved students, including but not limited to Black and African American students, to support and ensure their success in community colleges and beyond.

West African Fashion Takes the Spotlight at SCC
Don’t miss the West African Textiles and Fashion Show — a one-of-a-kind cultural celebration featuring SCC Fashion student Jordin Hinton and celebrated Togolese designer Komi Jean Pierre Nugloze!
Jordin, who recently participated in SCC’s Ghana Study Abroad Experience, will showcase original work inspired by the vibrant colors and traditions of West African fashion.

Los Rios Comms & Media Team Shines at CCPRO
Ever wonder who’s behind the eye-catching graphics, clever campaign slogans, or the districtwide messages that get students to engage? That’s all thanks to the incredible Los Rios Communications and Media team. They support all four colleges with everything from visuals and logos to copywriting and big-picture messaging—keeping things consistent, creative, and student-focused.
Led by AVC of Strategy and Communications, Gabe Ross, the team includes our awesome Public Information Officers (PIOs) who work together to keep Los Rios looking and sounding its best, and a team of creatives working hard behind the scenes.
Every year, the team heads to the CCPRO (Community College Public Relations Organization) Conference to connect with other creatives, level up their skills, and stay inspired by folks who care just as much about the community college mission. This year? They brought home nine awards!
