Foundation Scholarships Impact Student Lives
Every year, Los Rios Foundation scholarships make a deep impact on our students. In 2021, $300,975 was awarded to 403 SCC students. As one SCC student noted:

"This scholarship is very important to me because it will give me the opportunity to stay at SCC to finish my general education in order to transfer and get a Bachelors of Science in Nursing once I transfer. With this scholarship I will be able to focus on my education and not have to worry about getting a third job to pay for school. In addition, being able to get the opportunity to attend college has had a great influence in my life by being able to take a step closer towards two of my biggest life goals which are to be the first in my family to attend college and to become a nurse."
Designing for Diversity
SCC grad Monserrat Vázquez Fonseca was recently featured in a wonderful writeup about the amazing things she's doing at Portland State University. Her focus is on designing classrooms and other spaces for deaf and other disadvantaged students.

"Working with diverse communities, and focusing on that education piece that’s crucial for deaf children is something I would love to pursue," she said. "Getting them up to speed and focusing on their education and creating that learning opportunity for them — that’s the goal." We love to see it!
