CARES Act
CARES Emergency Fund Update
As the latest round of federal Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) funding relaxed some of its eligibility criteria, Los Rios was able to broaden the criteria for students to qualify for the CARES Emergency Fund. We were also given the green light to increase our maximum award per student from $500 to $1,000.

The Los Rios Colleges Foundation has finished implementing all the changes to the CARES Emergency Fund criteria and has processed a total of $648,000 in emergency awards! That includes hundreds of students who were previously ineligible, as well as an additional $500 for students who had previously applied and received only $500 under the old rules.

Black + Mental Health + Matters
"Black + Mental Health + Matters" is a virtual workshop on Friday, March 26, from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. that is designed to be a place of refuge for Black students. Knowing that Black humans in America face unique and specific barriers to mental health, this workshop provides a place for Black students to be seen and heard, both collectively and individually. It equips participants with tools to help them heal and thrive.

While this event centers Black students, all campus community members are invited to attend. However, comments or participation from allies that pull focus away from Black mental health will be respectfully redirected.

Sponsored by the ARC Black Student Success Center and Health and Wellness Center.
