We selected Ocelot because of their deep experience in supporting other California Community Colleges, bringing an existing library of thousands of customizable questions and answers to help support students. It isn’t currently set up to answer all questions a student might have or replicate the depth and detail of information on our website, but it is an outstanding tool to make it easier for students to get the answers they need and free up time for faculty and staff to address more significant student needs. We look forward to growing its database of topics over time based on the types of questions students are asking. In the meantime, questions about topics in other areas will likely return more generic responses, such as college contact information or links to department webpages.

Big thanks to everyone who helped vet and test the content before launch. Even with that great team effort, with a database of thousands of questions there are bound to be some that need additional work. If you see or hear about any information in the chatbot that needs to be updated or needs more information, please use this webform to share specific details so we can get it addressed.

Join us on Wednesday, March 24 from 12 PM to 1 PM for a presentation and Q&A with Jasmin Harris, Associate Director of Development and Policy at California Innocence Project. Founded in 1999, the California Innocence Project (CIP) reviews more than 2,000 claims of innocence from California inmates each year. CIP has secured the release of dozens of innocent people who otherwise may have spent the rest of their lives wrongfully incarcerated.

SCC Classified Professionals are invited to the first Virtual Classified Retreat on Tuesday, March 30, and Wednesday, March 31, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

President Gutierrez will be holding an office hour twice a month during the Fall semester. Office hours will be held on the second Friday at 8:30 a.m. and fourth Thursday at 2:30 p.m. The next upcoming office hour will be Thursday, March 25, 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. Please look for an email prior to each event to sign up. Zoom info will be sent via a calendar invite on the day before the event to those who signed up.
